I have zero epics (currently, pulled one of the giants and dusted it for cards I needed) or legendaries but ya'll can play whatever you like as far as I'm concerned.

In my experience in Ranked mode, epics don't turn the tables of a game quite like Legendarys do.

I would be okay with 0 to 1 Legendary and no restrictions on Epics, but I'm okay with a Epic limit.  The only possible problem I see is that the current low minion Warlock meta can fit within your build criteria.

I'm in. I'd like 1 Legendary and no epic restrictions (or maybe just like, 2).  I can understand the 0 legendary limit and would be okay with that too though.

If it's at least one Legendary and any number of Epics, I'm in.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Based on people's preferences I've set the limit on Legendaries to 1 and that is the only restriction currently.

I don't know if everyone would be available on a certain day (like a Sat) to be on and do the entire tournament, so if not then we can just run it like ROOT with 1 match per week (or X number of days) and update as we go.

Would we want to do elimination or round robin?

My games (without a slow opponent) average around 8 minutes, therefore I vote for a round robin.  I play practically everyday to complete my daily quests, so I don't think it would be too difficult.

I do think round robin would be more fun, and since the matches go pretty fast I was also thinking of having it be a best of 3 (or 5, or whatever) just so that you get to play for more than just a few minutes once a week, lol.

Most tournament structures are double elim, best 3 of 5, final best of 7. Each player has 3 decks. Game 1 players blind pick their decks, then the losing player picks a new deck for the next game. Some tournaments also limit no duplicate classes, but I would have no problem with that as a restriction as this is a more friendly tournament and some people are new and do not have expanded collections.

With red101 signing up that makes us at 8 people, exactly enough for a double elim with losers bracket.

Goodness, you think I have 3 decks to play with? I don't even really have 1 good deck.

Which is why I said players should probably be allowed to play with duplicate classes if they wanted (hence, only 1 deck) :). I like the system a lot because it gives the game a bit of a sideboard-esque feel to it by allowing the loser to pick a new deck for the next match (while the winning player must still play with the same deck from last game).

Also for any interested, the Hearthstone WellPlayed Cup for $3k is going on and being streamed right now with some of the best players in the game (Reynad, Trump, TidesofTime, KitKatz, Rdu (winner of Dreamhack Summer 2014), etc). You can check out the stream on Twitch at http://www.twitch.tv/wellplayedhs.

Number of decks aside, I like the idea of best of 5/7 but can you describe or lay out how double elim with loser's bracket works? I will admit I don't really know the terminology.

Using the 8 man tournament as an example:

http://www.printyourbrackets.com/pdfbrackets/8teamDouble.pdf

The 4 losers from the 1st round move down to the first round of the losers bracket and play each other.
The 2 losers from the 2nd round of the winners bracket moves down to play the 2 winners of the 1st round of the losers bracket.
The 2 winners of the 2nd round of losers bracket play each other.
The loser from the 3rd round of the winners bracket moves down to play the winner of the 3rd round of the losers bracket.
The winner of the 4th round of the losers bracket moves up to play the winner of the 3rd round of the winners bracket (Finals). Usually this is played out twice since one player will be undefeated. But since Hearthstone uses best of 7 for Finals, this really isn't necessary.

Are we capping it at 8 then?

I'm assuming Browarod will be organizing this. Challonge will do all the hardwork for you.

8 seems to be a good number so we can cap this first tourney here. I feel woefully uninformed, is Challonge a website?

Matches have been determined by random seed: http://challonge.com/RedHearthJuly14

Round 1 has begun! You have until 11:59pm CDT July 7th to complete your games and post your results.
-Results must be posted/confirmed by BOTH players, please include complete game results, not just the winner (i.e. Player A won 3-2 over Player B).

Prizes are unconfirmed as of yet (though there will be prizes at least for 1st place, probably second as well). I need to confirm some things with Ken first.

If 1 week is not sufficient for games please let me know and we can extend it.
-Also, this is my first time using Challonge so please let me know if anything is missing or incorrect.
