Victory Points Replace Lost Souls

So awhile back, I posted this topic, and there were some very serious flaws that needed to be addressed. I think I've come up with a solution.

The object of this variation is to get 15 victory points. Victory points may be obtained by a character winning a battle. 2 victory points are obtained if a hero wins the battle, while 1 victory point is obtained if the evil character wins the battle.

A player may not win a victory point unless that player has a character in battle during battle resolution.

Deck Building is 40-99 cards, no duplicates except for non-SA characters, which get 3. Sites still have to equal the number of lost souls. Lost souls may be included as regular cards.

Evil Characters may begin battles.

Stalemates and Mutual Destructions are ties. Nobody gets a victory point, but the characters may still die in a mutual destruction. First Strike still causes the character with first strike to win the battle in the event of a mutual destruction, and thus that character would get a victory point.

Banned cards:
Angel of the Lord, Christian Martyr, Grapes of Wrath, and Mayhem.

Hail Westy! How about the following...

  • 1 point for winning a battle
  • 1 point for redeeming a lost soul
  • 1 point for each character that you defeat (really truly defeat) in battle.

This would give a bonus for taking out a big banding chain, but more importantly it would severely devalue chump blocks.  "Sure you can block with Uzzah. I would enjoy getting a point for killing him."

Just an idea.

Why would you play lost souls in your deck at all if you didn't want to run sites?

Because Punisher, Pigs, CBP, etc. Plus, there's really no way to get rid of them outside of SoG/NJ or simply using the Exchanger/Negater souls.

Gotcha that makes sense but I would feel the risk of giving up extra points on a rescue would hardly be worth the benefit of a souls ability

I forget counters whenever I play T2. You expect me to bring counters to every game to keep track or score? Or even worse, remember my score?

I can't just write it down on paper because my handwriting stinks.

Yeah, a D20 costs a whole $1.50 or so.  I thought we wanted to keep the game affordable.

Well that's quite the exaggeration there MJB. I never pay more than a quarter for my dice.  ;)

Tear up a card, a la orangebus, and use the pieces.  Just make sure you don't play a game hungry.

Ah, Orangebus...glad to see someone still remembers him :). What was his last creation? Walking on Mary's face (Walking on Water/Mary's Prophetic Act mashup)?

I feel like there was an authority in there somewhere. It was also the year Elijah came out, so the best I can think of is Authority of Elijah Walking on Mary's face.

Also, Michael Hue still lurks now and then...

I'm not sure how I missed this post. Great idea. As it is, Chump Blocks are still not a problem, as the object isn't to rescue lost souls, but I like the multiple victory point system.
