RTS vs LackeyCCG

Ok, so it's been a while since i've been on here. I see somebody finally got a Lackey plugin up and running, and props to him/her as that is awesome.

Looking at lackey's website, i can't get a gauge of how redemption would be played on it. is Lackey truly a better alternative to RTS, or does it just allow Mac users an easy way of playing? How are the gameplay mechanics different?

Personally I never saw too many problems with using RTS except that it was difficult to run on Mac and that connecting online was a pain. What RTS issues does lackey solve?

Game mechanics-wise the current Lackey plugin is pretty much a sidegrade to RTS. This was an implementation decision based on wanting to introduce a new interface without having a hiuge learning curve.

Advantages for Lackey:

1) Multiplayer support
2) Game lobby
3) Native Mac support
4) Ability to observe in progress games (if the players allow)
5) Simplified networking
6) Modern supported codebase

Lackey also has support for for booster and sealed. The only issue is finding time to implement that in the plugin.

One of the features that I've really enjoyed having on Lackey is being able to reveal the bottom card(s) of your deck without getting to see the rest of the deck. Although the deck editor on Lackey is nice and sort-able, I actually like the RTS editor as you can just start typing the name of the card without having to clear the search field like you do on Lackey.

I would say both are still viable and used.

Personally one thing I love about lackey is simply being able to select multiple cards at once and send them to the desired location. This speeds up mayhem, multiple target discards, captures, multiple card draws ect. One draw back I've seen with lackey is that an opponent could easily hide lost souls since it's not announced when one is drawn.

I would love to be able to play booster on lackey. I've never been a fan of sealed so that doesn't interest me but being able to play Multi without need of google documents is a bonus as well.

Speaking of, we need to find a night where we can try a T2 MP game with Lackey, see how much easier it is  8)
