Did not expect to see this match-up for a semi-final...

King David is great with PBI and works with different themes.

Asahel has a band or CTB as options, both of which are great.

I haven't made up my mind yet.  Convince me!

I think KD is overrated, but Asahel is still very outmatched here.

King David is in a better brigade, splashes better, fits better in decks where he isn't just a splash, and has a comparable ability (in my opinion).

They both suck and should Simeon. I don't even care if Moses is in the other bracket. Every hero should be Simeon.

Asahel, he fits nicely into many Judges or Warriors decks, and even though King David is a king, musician, and ignores a plethora of evil characters, Asahel choses the blocker or bands, and is a Giantslayer, which can be a very good combination in many different decks.

Edit: Sorry, my mistake, I was misinformed, and yeah, you are right  :P I still vote Asahel since he fits into Sam decks, and just for me works better thanks!

Asahel is not a Giant slayer (not that its really that important).  In fact if we're going to give points to anyone for being a giant slayer, it is actually David.

David (all 5 versions), Jonathan (6/6 no SA), Abishai (both versions), Sibbechai (both versions) and Elhanan (both versions).

I believe that's all of them.

*edit* checked our test notes and found that Caleb is not included.

I love KD and he will probably win but I went with the versatility of ctb or band

To me asahel is the main Cog in fbtnb and the potential for CBN battle winners off of the ctb is so powerful for asahel.

I think this sentiment hold truer in t2 then t1 for sure

As a T1 and T2 player, King David is just plain better. I love Asahel as much as the next Hobbit, but he simply isn't as good as KD.

You basically only reiterated your first post.

King David

Maybe you could tell us why you think he is better and has more to offer then what Asahel does?

I think KD is overrated

Pretty much this.

How does KD fit better in decks where he isn't splash?

Well the term 'better' was used, so I'm assuming that the statement meant KD fits into its theme better than Asahel does in his. In regards to T1 at least, I don't think that statement is very true.

King David ignore a large amount of highly played evil characters in Gates, Gray, Herod, and Canaanite defenses.  This allows him to win souls w/o support in some situations.  He also allows you to to draw without fear of being blocked by a foreign wive in most situations (many times I've also benefited from her due to drawing 7 off throne).  He's in a stronger brigade.  He fits also fits into multiple themes/decks (Sam, Royalty, ot splash).

I do love Asahel's ctb setting up BoD, and his ability to band to the wc fbtn guys.  Both are able to get around fw but David is more effective at it.

The main issue I have with KD is his ignore can be played around. KD doesn't set up the auto-rescues that Tomb does because the ignore is just too narrow in focus. This then leads to his worth as an initiative character. The strength of a brigade doesn't equate to anything if the character is unable to employ any of it effectively. Without Throne, he's just too big to execute any of those strong cards in a meta that is dictated by making strong cbn plays with initiative characters or straight up denial. Even Purples best play (and arguably what defines Purple as a 'stronger' brigade) is unable to be utilized off of Throne at all. As splash, I find his effectiveness drops even further.

I think by "Gates" he is referring to "of Jerusalem" and "of Samaria," not to "of Hell".  He didn't mention Brown or those defenses at all, which leads me to believe that.  Also, KoT, PotW, and others don't get used quite as much, so it wouldn't stop those defenses.
