Anybody know who's bidding on the NE Regional this year?

Also, any bids in for NJ States? Robert, Jon, and I could probably put together something for that.

Right now Lynnfield Mass is calling Dibs on NE regionals. Where Nats was 2010.

Right now Rochester has the best dibs on NE regionals, actually.

If we get Nats, then Regionals can be wherever.  However, if we don't get Nats, I'll be bidding on Regionals.

Psh.  Too low class.  I haven't heard anything about states, the three possible hosts are Greeson, Roy and I.

In my opinion, you should give States to Roy. Odds are if you don't get Nats, you'll get regionals, since it makes sense to put it roughly in the middle of the region. If Roy gets States, that gives me potential to win one of the States, since I'm going for RNRS points this year.

This isn't what I heard from John and Sam. They both said they're pushing on Lynnfield and Roy is supposed to be the one pushing for Nats I thought. Honestly though if anyone in the NE gets Nats it doesn't really matter for anyone up here because we will all be happy.

Simply put, Randall's bid for Regionals is much, much better for those of us in PA and MD, in the form of being roughly 4 less hours to drive one way. If Randall gets Regionals, I can make it. If John or Sam get it, my odds go way down, depending on the date. Additionally, Rochester is a stronger location for Nats than Long Island is. I love Roy to death, but Rochester is definitely the stronger location, because it's not in as busy an area, has an international airport, and has potentially free (or at least cheap) lodging (Randall's location would be at a college). I've actually heard of Roy's putting in a bid for Nats twice now, and I hadn't heard it before today. On the other hand, Randall has been talking about putting in a bid for a few months now. That doesn't have any bearing on who should get it if TN falls through, that's just been what I've heard regarding NE's Nats bids.

I am -not- bidding for regionals. I will host PA states again, though, unless someone else comes out of the woodwork that I had no idea about.

Depending on the dates, I can co-host with you if you'd like the help, Marti. I'd like to play in at least T12P, and T22P if there's any chance of putting them at different times (unlikely, I know), but beyond that, I'm willing to help however I can.

Sounds good to me.  Maybe next year I can give you a year off for State - we'll see, I've got a lot of groundwork to cover before that can happen.

As for Regionals this year, I'm sure I speak for the rest of my group when I say I would prefer going to Rochester.  Easier traveling and all that.

Finally, a thought: would it be a good idea to set up a rotation of geographic areas within the region to host Regionals?  We were down in MD last year (representing MD/southern PA), perhaps Rochester this year (repping central/western NY and northern PA), then New England next year, followed by NJ/NYC area.  Basically, move around the region like it's a MP game.

This is something I'd be okay with, and is part of the reason I support a Rochester (or Long Island) Regionals. Going from one extreme (MD) to another (MA) doesn't make sense.

You mean filled with bickering, and no one's happy afterwards?

Kidding, it sounds like a good idea.

I know my brother and I would love to host Regionals some day, as long as we can get it to work with the church's schedule.

Randall, is the Rochester O-Plan Nats 2012 been written on stone yet?  Are you guys definitely bidding?  Time is running out in essence.

I am personally not in the bid plan for Nats but the Valley Stream group that meets at ReBirth where most of you who have posted here may already have attended tourneys at on Long Island.  I shall be supporting and helping them with their bid as soon as they solidify their venue.

Honestly, if the TN group will not be solid with their Nats bid soon then you guys better be prepared to take over with more intensity with your bids.  The Valley Stream group is still determined to put their bid in especially if bids from other NE States are not solid yet about theirs at this point in time.

The Long Island contingent is prepared to bid for either Regionals or States depending on what is left for it to host.  We will defer to the other major NY State groups and will give them dibs.

I hope that keeps everyone abreast of Long Island's large tourney plans.

Peace and Godbless all.

Lovely!  I trust the proposal is solid.  Prayers up.

Nonetheless, if the Valley Stream group likewise bids, then we should have more back-up for Nats hosting.  I'm almost certain we would defer to Rochester should any decision be made by Mr. Anderson.

Peace.

I don't think the options aside from TN were in any particular order.

If TN should somehow fall through, I am prepared to hit the ground running.  I've already lined up the venue, transportation, food and play space.  However, Chris Fachman (I think that's how you spell it) has assured me that the chance of that is low.

Do you definitely have the permission of Roberts to not only use their facilities for the tournament, but use dorm rooms (as you've mentioned a couple times before)? If so, how much is that going to cost?

Yes, all of the above.  I don't have permission from Risk Management.  If they deny me, it just means that the price will go up.

There's always Millinieum Games...they said they would be happy to host tournaments.  We would just have to avoid their MtG tournaments.  :P

Then I have to wrangle with paying them for hosting, etc.  I'd prefer the beast I know, but Millennium might be worth looking into.
