I want to try to start something on the RTS. I have this idea called a G-H canon deck. The only cards you can use in a deck are cards from the G-H starters, the Priests Expansion pack, Faith of our Fathers, and Rock of Ages. You can't use lost souls from different sets or dominants. You can't use promos either. I think this is a semi-challenging way to play, giving the limits of the cards you can use. I want to see how many people will like this idea so leave a post or PM me any questions or comments you might have.

Not necessarily. I play with prophets and you can use several combos with good brigades like purple and teal. Why would it discourage Defense?

Because post G/h defense isn't that great overall compared tothe awesome offenses that came out.

I thought that there've been lots of amazing defensive stuff that came out since G/H. There have been good stand along characters (KoT, PotW) auto blocks (Uzzah, TD), CBN stuff like Nerg and Naaman, lot of play first, Horses-Horses and more Horses, not to mention some crappy Emporer stuff that just happened to win Nationals last year.

It's hard to play Emperor's without stuff like Nero, Claudius, Balaam's diobedience, Mask of Fear, and various other nice enhancements. It'd force you to use capture enhancements, and how hard is it to stop capture? Nto hard.

You wouldn't have to worry about Blue Tassels. You have RDJ to remove Obediah's Caves or Z's Temple. What other major concerns does capture have?

The increase of characters made who avoid capture.
I am redemption (lol, ok, not really, but I had to mention it)
The increase of many initative characters being made.

Vague generalities don't really make an entire defensive strategy obsolete.

Your only specific example is from Angel Wars (which is pre G/H).

I stand by the fact that Emperors, whether or not they use capture, will make a good defense in this format.

I agree with Gabe because I use the emperors and brown in my canon deck and they work well against priests. RDJ does help a lot.

Z-Temple has nothing to fear. RDJ is easily countered by Filling Z-Temple, and once that's safe you have no battle-winners.

I really can't think of a single way to play a defense in this format that would enable you to do anything to a Z-Temple offense.

I'm not saying it isn't POSSIBLE, it is just the last two sets have been offensive heavy.

I mean it is POSSIBLE to do it, I was saying due to the difficulty of building a solid one (Not everyone knows how to make orange great, even though its awesome) would encourage more def than offense.

Well how about you guys who think priests would be dominant and build a canon deck with priests and whatever defense you want. THen if you are going to Nationals or are on Hamachi play me and you can see the deck I built and I'll show you other stratigies you can use. Like I said before, you can use a pretty strong red deck and even a genesis deck. If you wish to do this PM me or leave a post. Thanks for all opinions so far
