It's a good year to own a Wii

Awesome. Looks like it'd be a great game if it were to just be on 360.

i was initially excited when i heard the news, but its been stated this wont be a retro redux but a modern reimagining (for better or for worse, whichever way you take that)...and it is, after all, a fps on the wii. i'll cross my fingers for the retro goldeneye on xbla, though (which did get the old skool perfect dark recently).

Schaef... two words that might dampen your excitement for this..

REGENERATING HEALTH.

It's not a pure port. Lets hope they don't ruin it.

REGENERATING HEALTH.

Not sure why regenerating health would ruin my experience when shield belts did not.

Because it takes a LOT of the challenge out. Shield belts didn't regenerate. When you were stuck with one bar of health left on the last few levels... on the hardest difficulty.... good luck. Now you just hide and your health is filled.

What evidence do you have that hiding will refill one bar all the way to full health?

Also, destructible environs will reduce your ability to hide.

yeah, like i said, its not going to be what most people expect, it wont be a pure port...i recall them saying something to the effect that goldeneye set the standard for multi back in the day, but times have changed with fps', so they have to adapt with it and make a different game from the original.

still, many current fps games have regenerating health (cod, battlefield, halo, etc) but in most cases since health is naturally low to begin with, only in the most lucky of cases will it actually matter. hopefully this will follow suit.

From IGN:

It's a contemporary FPS design: no health pick-ups. Instead, you take cover to get your health to regenerate.

Sounds like like full health regeneration.

Also, another thing that may almost ruin it for me:

But the "Klobb" gun (presumably named after the N64 game's producer Ken Lobb) has been renamed the "klebb"

... I don't see the word "full".  What makes it sound like that to you?  Do CoD or Battlefield regen full health at all times?

First game I played with regen was Pariah and it was only partial.

Yes, CoD4 regenerates back to full health after a few seconds.

And of course we know, everyone hated that game.

People seem to be losing sight of the most important part, here...

Yes, but Goldeneye: Rogue Agent was also completely unrelated to the original game except in name.  The trailer alone shows a lot of homage paid to the original story and gameplay.

Remake does not always mean its going to be as good as the original. Hollywood has many many many examples of this.

Am I saying its GOING to be bad? No. Is it going to be the exact same game? No. So... I'm cautiously optimistic about this game.

Like Batman Begins and Casino Royale and The Karate Kid?

If GOOOOLLDEEEEEEENEYEEEEEE is to be successful, the multiplayer needs to stay true to the original game. All weapon pickups, slappers, epic proximity mine madness (including the ability to stick a mine on an ammo box and flip the box over), etc.
