Figuring you learn more form failure than success, here is a T2 defense that proved to be (almost completely) pure fail at the recent Minnesota T2-Only Blow Out...

Total cards 41

Reapers 4
  Burial
  CM
  DoN
  FA

Evil Fortresses 3
  High Places x3

Evil Characters 16
  Persian Presidents x2
  Haman
  Complainers x2
  King Zedekiah
  King Ahaz
  Uzzah x2
  Zimri, Son of Salu
  Seven Wicked Spirits x2
  Gomer (women)
  Archers of Kedar x2

Evil Enhancements 18
  Threatened Lives x5
  Land Purchase x4
  Gib Trick x4
  Dungeon of Malchiah x2
  Belshazzar's Banquet x3

This was coupled with Babylon x5 and Babylonian Banquet Hall x2 (and Lions' Den x3 for the PPs).

Anyway, the underlying idea was that it is difficult to make a rescue if there are no lost souls on the table. The plan was to wait for a clump of lost souls, then use Land Purchase to search for BBH, load BBH with up to 7 souls, and bury them all with Threatened Lives. Since this can be done outside of battle with High Places, the thought was you could avoid all the messiness of having to prepare pre-block ignore, protected characters, and so on.

The defense worked as planned at least once in four out of the five games I played, and in three games it provided significantly large periods with no LS available. In general, however, the lost souls' distribution was not clumpy enough to get this to work reliably. The results could be improved somewhat by adding in a few more Uzzah and a Burial Shroud or three to give me a longer time to clump up lost souls. I am highly dubious that would help sufficiently to allow this defense to be competitive against top-level decks.

Anyway, any questions or comments?

What are you hoping to accomplish with Zimri? Do you run into Women as Snares a lot?

The ECs from Zimri down are all there to help out the offense. The main defense that causes my offense fits are the swarm defenses (i.e., those that band a bunch of WC characters wearing horses together and play a end the battle enhancement). I've also clarified which version of Gomer I am using to make things clearer.

More Preseidents, Shame LS, Raider's Camps and an offense that sets aside your Heroes for some benefit could make for another great stall tactic to buy you some time and annoy your opponent.

I can personally verify the truth of that statement.

In response to comments by Gabe, an earlier version of the defense was..

Total cards 41

Reapers 4
  Burial
  CM
  DoN
  FA

Evil Fortresses 5
  High Places x3
  Raiders' Camp x2

Evil Characters 16
  Persian Presidents x4
  Haman x2
  Zeresh
  King Ahaz
  Uzzah x2
  Bear
  Seven Wicked Spirits x2
  Gomer (women)
  Archers of Kedar x2

Evil Enhancements 16
  Zeresh Advises Haman x3
  Threatened Lives x4
  Land Purchase x3
  Gib Trick x3
  Belshazzar's Banquet x3

Same site configuration.

Notes: Zeresh Advises Haman would have been not only fun to use, but would have allowed me to pull my PP out of battle after the capture. Maybe I should have stuck with this version, but thinking about using set asides on my own heroes gave me a bit of the hibbity-jibbities given what I suspected might be rampant use of Darius' Decree. I hadn;t thought about the Shame LS, however. Note also that both versions only had multiple copies of one non-generic character (Uzzah) and only two of him because SWJ also frightened me.

emjaybee

just so uyou don't have to feel bad cause you think you epic fail

i fail alot more at this game then anyone else combined, cause im trying to improve and learn more combos but it's easier said then done but i have to ask myself these questions:

what's wrong with me?
im playing plenty of games, why am i still not improving?
what is my best deck strategy?
what do i need to do besides practice to improve?
how is it some people who have been in this game not as long as i have, improve so quickly in such a short time while i remain almost the same and just take babysteps in improvement?

i still struggle with those questions

Some people just have a knack for different things like card games or music or sports or video games or art or math or writing and others have to work a bit harder to get to achieve the desired result in those activities.

I will use myself as an example:
I have a knack for card games and sports--learning them and playing them come naturally to me.
I spent a lot of time practicing to be as good as some of my friends at video games, but I'm not the kind of person who can pick up a new game and master it in a short time.
I have very little musical ability.

To The Guardian: You also juggle very well. Much better even than I used to juggle when I was young and spent time doing it.

To New Raven BR: I appreciate that you would take the time to write the comment that you did.
