Please read the whole thing, I am not trying to bash anyone, just give perspective.

does anyone remember how the Patriots beat the Ravens 41-7  all with Brady playing great

Actually, nope, don't remember that.  Brady was 14/26 for only 176 yards and 1 TD in that game.  The score was high due to turnovers and a good running game, Brady played rather meh that day (and awful as far as Brady goes).

And if we want to go for blowouts, Brady has played in quite a few just as bad where they lost, like the 2010 WC game.  23/42 for only 154 yards, 2 TDs, and 3 INT; 49.1 rating.  Did he choke that game?  Not really.  Ray Rice scored on the first play from scrimmage, and 24 points for the Ravens in the first quarter, so Brady tried to claw back the whole game, hence the INTs.

In fact, in the 3 playoff games that Brady has played the Ravens, all at home, he has thrown for a 56% completion rate, 238 yards per game, 3 TD, and 7 interceptions.  That is bad, and even worse for a HoFer, right?

I'm saying all this to say that Brady is a future HoF QB, and one of the best to play the game ever.  So is Manning.  Both have bad games, and it is going to be highlighted in a sport with only 16 regular season games and a one-and-done playoff structure.  The sample size is going to be small regardless, and I can always find a specific sample to fit my needs.  Like if I don't like Brady (this is hypothetical to prove a point remember ;)), I can just point to his awful performance at home against the Ravens in the playoffs, and say that it was a miracle they won even the one game they got in spite of him.  That doesn't diminish how truly amazing of a player the man is.  It just shows that he had 3 really bad games against a good opponent.

And before we get into "come on, they lost to X who lost to Z so they are worse than Z," there are embarrassing losses or surprising victories for every team, and there is no such thing as transitive losses.

Hey, transitive losses (and thus transitive wins) are one of the only ways fans of bad teams can feel good about their teams. Which is why I kind of hope the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Because then it'd basically be like the Vikings winning the Super Bowl, since we dominated the Eagles a couple of weeks ago. Right?  ;)

I fail to see where "standing up for the Patriots" needs to include hurling negativity at Peyton Manning, or someone else's team. I happen to like Manning as a person, since he has been nothing but humble throughout his career, and his off-field generosity is exemplary. I've been a Patriots fan longer than you have been alive. Longstanding Patriots fans have never had issues with opposing stars being given their due, even if they were our fiercest rivals (i.e. Dan Marino).

As I mentioned earlier, and as the Bible states, pride comes before the fall, so a touch of humility among Patriots fans would be warranted, even though we won't have to play the Giants this year if we do get to the SuperBowl.  ;)

I doubt he was offended at that post so much as the other posts where you are talking about the superiority of your team/players over others. The Patriots were clearly the best team in the 2007-08 season, until a relatively unknown receiver on the Giants ended up with one of the most ridiculous receptions in recent NFL history. They remain probably one of the most consistently good teams in the NFL. YMTs point is merely that it is not necessary to rag on other teams/players in favor of your own.

ITT people not being able to separate stating factual information about one persons tendency to flop with attacking them as a person. Peyton Manning is a wonderful, humble, selfless person, who just happens to not have a winning record in the playoffs outside of one season where he needed 5 field goals from his kicker to not get tossed in the first round, again.

I approve of that video because after the hit Brady gets up and shrugs it off like it was nothing

Actually we will have to wait until Sunday afternoon. The #1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed.

Apparently this is the imperfect pick of Nate.

Given Nate's record so far I am liking Green Bay's chances tonight. ;)

We'll see how today goes, but I find it ironic that Jordan's original post got a -1 even though he is "perfect" so far.  ;)

I guess nobody is perfect now. I will calcutlate totals after this round and then we'll pick over again. So people can make more educated picks then hypotheticals. I'll calculate a weekly total after the next game and an overall total (from your first post) at the end for fun.

Next week

Chargers at Broncos

Colts at Patriots

Saints at Seahawks

49ers at Panthers

Jordan is 3-1 Drrek and I are 1-3 and AJ went 0-2 in the AFC

I think that just goes to show how good all of the play off games were. All the games went down to the wire and no real blowouts.

For the next round I am going to take all the home teams.

Well I did pretty poor that week

All my picks this week are the 1 & 2 seeds ( Broncos, Patriots, Seahawks, Panthers), so I guess you could accuse me of not taking risks, but I really didn't have much of any faith in any of the lower seeds this year.

Someone posted on my Facebook that the Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1992. Had I known that, in addition to the fact that the Chargers have a nasty habit of playing their best games vs. good opponents, I might have gone 4-0.

For this week's games, I might have to change things up slightly.

The Saints will still beat the Seahawks, and the Niners will still beat the Panthers.

But in the AFC:

The Colts will beat the Patriots, and...The Chargers will...

...lose to the Broncos.

So, to sum up, I am going to pick the Broncos as the only home team to win.
