For cards that say "after battle" or "following rescue attempt", when is the battle officially over?  Is it over once characters get discarded/returned to terr, or is it when the LS is/isn't given, or...when?

Is there a difference?  LS is given during battle resolution....

So it's before the characters actually leave battle?  That doesn't seem right....

And what about "after battle"?  Would that be the same time?

Hmmm...I was kinda hoping to get a clear definition of what this was before presenting the reason so as people wouldn't be making their decisions based on the combo itself...but oh well.

To me, "after battle" is when the characters retreat back to their territory after the battle resolution.  If this is true, then Assyrian Camp would protect Assyrian Archer from discarding itself....

Yes, I see "following RA" as being during battle resolution.  But "after battle" seems to be after battle resolution.  If the characters are still in battle, how can it be after battle?  See my point?  A RA ends during battle resolution by either the LS being given or not being given.  The battle ends when the characters are returned to their territories.

The Battle Resolution Phase comes after the Battle Phase; therefore Battle Resolution is "after battle."

Hmmm...that does make sense.  I still think it's weird that the characters are still in battle 'after battle' tho.

Battle Resolution is the last step of the Battle Phase, it's just a calculation to clean up the field and complete abilities if necessary.  "After battle" is synonymous with the Battle Resolution, because that comes when both parties agree that the battle has reached its end.

Yup - so long as it isn't by a SA that it's a mutual destruction.
