REG 9.0 and ORDIR 5.0 Change Log
« on: November 24, 2023, 01:49:23 PM »
The latest versions of the REG and ORDIR are now live!

The new Deck Building Rules Document is also live, with more details on that release here.

Implemented Rule Changes
Targeting (pg. 12)
- The default targeting for many effects that was just "in play" has been changed to "in play or a set-aside area". Set aside still defaults to "in play".
- Activate an Ability, Interrupt, Negate and Prevent had a similar change, to "abilities on cards in play or a set-aside area".
- The default for Hold, for characters, has been updated to "in play or a set-aside area".
- These changes also appear in the appropriate entries later in the document.
- These changes only impact the default targeting - anything that specifies "in play" is still limited to just in play.

Interrupt (pg. 54)
- Updated the requirements for reactivation so the card has to make specific movement while interrupted in order to not reactivate. So cards like Noah and Angel of the Winds that have ongoing abilities but have removed themselves "from play" will reactivate, as long as they don't move during the interrupt.

Present (pg. 61)
- The target character must come from the hand or territory of whoever is carrying out the present. It is no longer legal to present from an opponent's territory.

Other Changes of Note
Action Priority (pg. 87)
- This entry received a significant overhaul. There is no change in how things were intended to work, just a change in how the information is presented. The information that used to be in the sections for Manually Triggered Effect (pg. 6), Triggered Effect (pg. 7) and Dominant (pg. 100) have been moved here, and replaced with a link to this entry.
- There are 3 levels within Action Priority: 1) triggers, 2) Doms, and 3) manual triggers. Each player has to pass the opportunity at one level before it can move to the next level.

Information Moved Into Other Documents
Deck Building Rules (formerly just after Table of Contents)
- Moved to the new document for Deck Building Rules

Duplicate Card (pg. 101)
- List moved to ORDIR, and mentioned here that the list is now found there.

Generic Card (pg. 104)
- List moved to ORDIR, and mentioned here that the list is now found there.

Other REG Updates
General Changes
- Minor updates to make language more consistent within the document

Duration (pg. 13-14)
- A new section, to clarify which card types and classes override default durations.

Add to Battle (pg. 25)
- Removed a "default" that players can only add to their side of the battle, since it was redundant with the hard rule in bullet #3.
- Updated the first Special Condition to link to Enters Battle, so the "unique characters can only enter battle once per turn" rule is mentioned in one place, with links elsewhere as appropriate.
- Clarified that you cannot add to a battle that has not begun, so you can't begin a battle with an add to battle ability.

Band (pg. 26)
- Moved the first Special Condition to Clarifications, since the characters in battle aren't really protected, they're just not valid targets because they're already in the Field of Battle.
- Updated the new first Special Condition to link to Enters Battle, so the "unique characters can only enter battle once per turn" rule is mentioned in one place, with links elsewhere as appropriate.

Exchange (pg. 43)
- Minor update to clarify that exchanges don't always target cards controlled by the user.

Play an Enhancement (pg. 59)
- Updated the lines about the locations of the characters the Enhancements are played on to be actual defaults that can be overridden, not hard rules as previously presented. This makes the printed rules line up with how False Leaders has been ruled in practice.

Use Other Enhancements (pg. 85)
- Added the default location of "in play or a set-aside area" for the target characters.

Advantage (pg. 88)
- Clarified that advantage defaults to being between the controller and the player(s) the ability names. This was an oversight in the original entry, not a change.

Discard Phase (pg. 99)
- Condensed the 3 types of Enhancements you can play (set-aside, heal, TC) to one line, to clarify that the TC limit applies across all of the types.

Draw Phase (pg. 100)
- Added revealing/activating star cards in the appropriate spot in the list of potential actions "after" the draw.

Enters Battle (pg. 102)
- Added that generic characters can enter multiple times per turn, so the rules for both generic and unique characters are in this entry.

Generic Card (pg. 104)
- Moved the rule about generic characters entering battle multiple times to Enters Battle and added a link here.

Hand (pg. 105)
- Simplified the language on not exceeding hand size

Matching (pg. 109)
- Added that a card cannot be targeted as matching itself, but another copy of the same card can be targeted

Play (pg. 113)
- Added that "A token is played when it is created."

Preparation Phase (pg. 114-115)
- Condensed the 3 types of Enhancements you can play (set-aside, heal, TC) to one line, to clarify that the TC limits applies across all of the types.

Reserve (pg. 117)
- Added the 1st round Reserve rule.

Star Card (pg. 119-120)
- Added that cards with a star ability are star cards, and that the star ability to applies to all identities

Target (pg. 120)
- Added a link to the Targeting section at the beginning of the REG

Token (pg. 122)
- Added that a token created in a location is put in that location.

Unique (pg. 122-123)
- Updated the 3rd criterion to account for familial relationships, so Lot's Daughters and Philip's Daughters are unique. They were not listed as Generic Characters, so this was to make the rules and application line up correctly.
- Updated the mention of Duplicate Card to account for the list moving to ORDIR
- Removed the section about unique characters entering multiple times, and replaced it with a link to Enters Battle, which has that information
