Okay, I'd first like to thank those board members that have sponsored some of the current RTS tournaments and gameplay. This proposed league is not intended to step on anyone's toes. Rather, it is to provide those avid RTS players another outlet for their voracious game playing, with a bit of a twist, but in the end awards prizes!

It is October 1 so no time like the present to start. This is a league that will run with two halves. Since this is new, we'll see how the first half of the season goes to determine if we want to go a second half. The first half will run from 10/1/2008 to 1/6/2009 (15 weeks). If we do a second half, it will be from 1/14/2009 to 4/28/2009. Playoffs will possibly follow afterward.

So I guess the first question is, "What is Type NW?" It is both a deck-building and category version we started here in the NW. Here are the details:

Type NW deck-building
- Deck size is always 70 cards
- No dominants are allowed
- Type 1 deck-building rules apply for everything else

Type NW gameplay
- Games are allotted one hour; when one hour is reached, complete the current full turn
- Name-on-name bonus and Experience credit are both used

For league play, we will keep track of wins, losses and ties along with number of lost souls that are saved by both opponents.
- Wins = 4 points
- Ties = 2 points
- Losses = 1 point
- Total redeemed lost souls will be accumulated for all players during the season
- A player may play another player twice in a week maximum to count towards league results
- There is no limit to the number of different players you play as long as they are signed up for the league
- Please PM or email all game results to me

As you can see by the point system, players are encouraged to actually play. A player with 5 losses will rank higher than a player with a win if those are the only games played. Since games are a full hour, there's a good chance there will be some 1-0 game scores and maybe some like 10-7. Who knows?

Prizes will be determined at a later date. I will let everyone know what they are.

I'm in Scott. It is sad that we can't play Type NW partners

maybe once the new simulator comes out it will be set up for multi-player.

My plan is Redemptin cash, but I'd better clear it with Rob first. At my first local everyone cashed in their Redemption cash for tins and boosters that I had in stock. I'm guessing that's how it will be the whole year so I'll have extra Redemption cash.

I'm in, itll take me a quick offense switch and a quick dom removal on my decks. Yay for loving 70 decks. My only issue with this format, any newer players joining will have serious issues due to it not being to 5 but till time (assuming they play SUPER slow). Penalizing them (Who are at fault) and who they are playing (who have NO control over it)

One question:

When playing, I assume pausing is acceptable if someone needs to break from the game? since it is a timed deal...

Due to the dynamics of playing on RTS, pauses can be set on timers. As for disconnects/dropped connections/etc., it's never happened to me so I'll handle them one-by-one. If two players are involved in a "dropped" game, PM me the details.

777Godspeed and I had a fun initial NW game. I won 3-2 but only because I only drew 3 lost souls the whole time. His Women as Snares captured almost all of my demon defense. Because I am the founder, president, CEO, and King of the "demons can't be redeemed" foundation, I didn't have any more access to lost souls after the hour time limit was up.

Good game. We couldn't get the rematch in last night but maybe today.

RR and I had the start of a good game going but I wasn't paying attention to the time. So we didn't get an official game in. He would have won. I made some boneheaded moves early on. But it was refreshing not having doms right after getting whooped again by Gabe in T1.

STAMP and I played another game and after an hour it was a 5-5 tie. We were quite evenly matched in offense and defense. We both agreed that Type NW will cause alot of outside the box thinking. Eliminating the use of DoMs and all decks being 70 cards changes some of the meta-game, at least for me. The current difficulty I am having is to not think T1 and to think of other nefarious combos, LS usage (Aunt B is not needed), territory management, Forts and Arts usage and management. Beings that there seems to be more time for territory set-up and stuff and all decks are the same size, some of the seemingly impossible combos look to be a little more plausible. These are just my thoughts and I would encourage everyone to give Type NW a try for kicks and giggles.

I agree it was a good game and we both learned some more about NW strategy. My defense needs to be revamped. If not for the fact that I did not draw a lot of lost souls, Mike would probably have won. I made a tactical error early on during a block. Even though I wasn't so worried about losing that lost soul, the block impacted how I could play defense the rest of the way. I love type NW! I love the in game strategy and momentum changes.

I hope others decide to join the league and start playing some games!
