TxP Cards Bending
« on: August 11, 2009, 12:31:34 AM »

Hey everyone,

I looked in my Redemption boxes today, and my TxP cards are acting really really weird.  Without being touched, my TxP cards were literally bent in a full half circle.  Reno has really dry air, but I have never had this happen with any other cards.  Must be that fancy foil.....

Anyone else having their foil cards bending like crazy?

I spent a week at a camp with really dry air and it was hot to boot.  The TexP cards that were not snug curled as well.  Maybe the backs of the cards dry out and shrink a little while the foil part gets warm and expands a little?

The cards I had in sleeves and the ones I had snug and tight against other cards did not curl.

This is the same issue that Pokemon had with the original "reverse foil" cards.

I also heard from some one at Nats that if you get them wet, the foil will come off.

Oh dear. Any ideas on how to get them back to normal?

Mine returned to normal just by stacking them tight together with non-curled cards for a day or so.

this happens in pretty much any ccg with foils.

QFT.
Not surprising at all and no poor reflection on Cactus' quality.
I mentioned in another thread some of the reasons GAMERS (vs. Collectors) don't really like foils and this is another one.

I agree.  Most foil cards I've seen from any CCG are bent somewhat.  That's usually how it is.  Which I why I don't really like foil cards. :)

Assuming they've bent from heat expansion, would cooling them in a fridge help them unbend?

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

He wins the thread...and I doubt putting them in the fridge would work...wouldn't it just kinda freeze them in a bent state(although remember kiddies no matter how weird it is baking your ipod after it was in the rain does not kill it but revives it o_O )

All that does is speeds up the evaporation process so water inside the case won't short anything.

Indeed. I always figured that foils were more for collectors than for gamers. I always feel bad when playing with foils because they look so nice (and I, myself, am a collector).

No, I was there when that picture was taken. She just temporarily took it off and had it in her hands. The photo obviously cut that part out.
