After you vote, please post an explanation.  Specifically, what subtheme, characters, and/or enhancements make it the "best" in your mind?

Teal is the strongest brigade and it has been since it was released in many ways. The problem with Teal is that it didn't suffer from weak early development like the other brigades. When it was released, it was jumpstarted with cards that are all useful and have very different possibilities. Now we are forced to deal with a brigade that has:

1: a 12/8 can not be captured or converted Character backed by CBN interrupt that splashes easily in combo with

2: two one turn set asides that provide +3 cards in hand

3: the best protect fortress in the game with

4: a character who can recur the aforementioned +3 enhancements

5: and a character with CBN access to aforementioned to interrupt in addition to another interrupt + some of the least restricted enhancements in the game

6: backed up with two covenants that can be held within the aforementioned fortress to give you site access or protection from discard for all heroes mentioned

7: and all of these cards are pretty easily incorporated in the context of another offense to support it

8: like TGT

White. It has TGT.

The ladies are some of the best heroes in the game. MMoJ provides sick banding that's CBN most of the time, which is often enough to win souls. Salome lets you get out TGT quickly, and Mary Mags negates the likes of Uzzah or Sabbath Breaker. Susanna is one of the best heroes in the game due to insane searching looking mid to late game, with good searching looking early game.

The enhancements aren't that bad either. He is Risen is without a doubt in my mind, the best enhancement in the game. You can nuke entire defenses with just one copy, and it interrupts the battle, and barely anything protects from it. Not to mention you can recur it with Consider the Lillies or you can use it to band in TSA in a pinch. Although ignore was hurt in disciples via Golgotha (and a few cards that I haven't seen used in competitive play outside of Haman's Gallows), white has Benedictus to counter it (again, recurred via lillies). Also, TGT will often still stop the dual color character (ie: Manasseh) or the splashed character like KOT or Uzzah. This still leaves other awesome enhancements like Magnificat and Words of Encouragement and First Fruits.

Most importantly, it works well with so much. White/purple seems pretty obvious with the likes of John and Lydia and an NT female in Lois, and it does indeed work well with Boat/ET for territory destruction, and also opens up more drawing with Reach and Pentecost. White/Green is another powerful option with a chance for provisions and Nathan and Anna (NT female, dawg). White/gold offers two amazing NT females in watw and gen widow as well as extra territory destruction in MTM. White/silver has been a personal favorite of mine in t2 beings Angel of Warnings helps to search out TGT and any site support you need, there's an angel that bands to white, and TSA is awesome for He is Risen.

Purple comes in a close second, but I'm still a TGT fanatic.

White has pretty much everything. ITB+Win, CBN banding, great Hero SA's, recursion, CTB, a drawing feast, the best Hymn, the only good custom Hero, initiative Hero, TGT, play-first (basing this on next season when Daniel shows up to ruin everyone's day), big offense Hero with a good SA...pretty much the only thing lacking is FbtN, and they have an Enhancement for that.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I gotta go purple cause it has had Reach AoCP for a long time. It has extremely powerful characters cough:Thaddeus:cough:Lemuel:cough. It has a good amount of enhancement support also. Some nice forts. I just enjoy purple.

Honestly, I struggled a bit with this question.  Three brigades stand out:  Purple, Teal, and White.

I decided to not go for the White Madness because of TGT.  It still has a lot of positives, but across the board: I don't think White can compare with Teal and Purple.

Alex made a great and strong case for Teal.  I have won many tournaments with Teal, but Purple has versatility.  If you need it, then purple likely has it.

I decided to go with Purple with it's latest power boost.

It is the most versatile and therefore the most powerful.  A synopsis of what purple possesses.
Speed
CBN enhancments (including the most powerful)
multiple great characters
multiple good support forts
multiple interrupts
banding
ignores
protection
site access
etc. (I'm sure there's more...this list is off the top of my head.)

I agree that purple is the toughtest and best brigade now. They have the best enhancement in the game AOCP, and their speed is unmatched. Fishing Boat, Four Drachma Coin, Reach, and Matthew offer blazing speed. This brigade also has interrupts and negates for days. I guess I have just focused on purple from a Disciples perspective. Royalty is descent, but not anywhere close to disciples.

Purple has been the best brigade for ages till it was finally beaten by Teal and Z Temple which went strong untill TGT madness finally started and White has stayed the strongest till now. Im hoping that will change (:

I almost voted for purple, just because it's so dominating this year.  But I can't believe nobody had voted for Green, yet.  It's probably the most diverse, hard to stop brigade in all of Redemption.  It has everything and more:

  • FBTN (Benaiah)
  • Some of the best recursion in the game (Micah)
  • Banding (Haggai, Simeon, Armorbearer, Aaron,
  • Strong abilities on CBN Heroes (Nathan, Simeon, Habakkuk, Hur)
  • Counters for several evil brigades (Miriam, Joel, Nahum, Obadiah)
  • Pre-block ignore (Joanna, Miriam, Spiritual Warfare)
  • Great drawing (Hur + Gifts, Feast of Trumpets)
  • Two of the most powerful enhancements in the game (ANB, Provisions)
  • The only good card (to my knowledge) that has been errata'd twice (ANB)
  • Many search cards including the best in the game (Search FooF)
  • Deck discard and play first for many of it's Heroes (Hidden Treasures)
  • Plenty of negates (STP, Behold the Lamb, Baptism of Jesus, Benaiah Snatches a Spear)
  • Can discard any evil card (Baptism of Jesus)
  • More amazing shuffle abilities than I can list
  • Some of the best anti-immunity cards in the game (Plague of Frogs, Two Bears)
  • Side battles (Sword of the Lord, Visions)
  • More multi-color Heroes than any other brigade (Jeremiah, Aaron, Zechariah, FSP, maybe more...)
  • It won Nationals T1-2P in 2010
  • It won Nationals T2-MP in 2010
  • It tied for first and was on the only deck to beat the 1st place deck at Nats in T2-2P in 2009
  • I'm sure there's things I've forgotten

The only brigade that can come close to those credentials in recent history is Teal.

that is a really strong case for green, but in my playgroup and tournaments in the south, I hardly ever see green being played. The only time I have seen green being used was for Type 2 ANB and maybe support for teal in type one. With that being said, Gabe made green sound ridonkulous, and I am going to go build a green deck now.

That's a lot going for green, but Disciples sped the meta up so much that Green is too slow now. If you get Hur/Lampstand/Temple/Gifts very early you're in business, but otherwise gl getting set up before your opponent does.

I voted Purple

Locally, Disciples characters dominate. There have been some of every color used, but with the support cards and reprints purple Disciples have received in the last set (what was it's name...oh yeah...Disciples) they have jumped out to a commanding lead. There is just nothing with so many options and dominating abilities.

Purple. The rest of you are in denial. Especially in Type 2. Green isn't dominant just diverse. Green could have been had they left ANB alone.

I agree with the first two statements. You make a strong case for purple, however:

Speed: Teal is faster. Two recurrable feasts>one feast + Reach/Prosperity
CBN enhancments (including the most powerful): Zeal + Josh + Holy Unto the Lord (CBI) > AoC and... nothing else... oh wait, Sent Two by Two... awesome. And Thomas. I give Teal a slight edge due to the CBN being better (Z Temple).
multiple great characters: This is a push in quantity, but purple does get the edge in quality thanks to Thad.
multiple good support forts: Fishing Boat and TToD > Z Temple
multiple interrupts: Which multiple interrupts are you talking about Reach + Situational Royal Parade? Push.
banding: Teal has the best banding the game hands down thanks to Z Temple
ignores: Neither brigade has great ignore, but purple gets an edge because of John
protection: Teal wins without contest
site access: Fishing Boat gets the edge.

The Score by my count is 4-4 with a Push. Purple might be slightly better, but that fact I am the only voter on Teal is dissapointing, similar to Gabe being the only green vote. Teal and Green are the best two brigades in my opinion. Teal wins to me because of how easily it fits with.... anything with only a few cards.

Green has had it's fun and ranks in recent history, but so has purple. It has dominated in T2 2 player, paired with green, and splashed in T1 2 player for years. It's obviously the most dominating brigade now due to how many players using it. I would have voted for green, teal, or white had it not been for Di. Purple takes the cake in today's meta, I am not voting on past credentials. Purple has old school splash, royalty, and of course Disciples. Disciples have arguably one of the strongest hero's in the game, Thad, and arguably the strongest enh in the game AoCp and My Lord My God. Pair that up with drawing, diverse SA's, all day access, healing with a cov, interrupts, negates, banding with John at the end, pulling out Disciples out of your deck, it clearly is the strongest brigade in the game as of right now, and the votes are showing it.

That's why I voted for green.  I just love the way it plays!  I got real excited with the new ammo that the Di set introduced.  While the rest of my playgroup was scrambling to gather up the Disciples (After watching me use them all because I bought the whole set), I got kind of unamused with them and started looking at the prophets.  Added some ANB/Micah/Mayhem shenanigans (As well as a few other neato cards), and I started manipulating the game in a new and "fresh" way to my liking.  Prophets have by far been my most favorite and strongest deck.  It has helped me recur/re-use Doubt 3 times; a Dom that many people underestimate.

Speed: Teal is faster. Two recurrable feasts>one feast + Reach/Prosperity

Don't forget Fishing Boat, Four-Drachma Coin, and Matt. In fact, if Joida (that's who does the recursions right?) gets taken out, then Teal becomes very slow. I'd argue that Disciples is faster even if he doesn't get taken out though.

Quote
CBN enhancments (including the most powerful): Zeal + Josh + Holy Unto the Lord (CBI) > AoC and... nothing else... oh wait, Sent Two by Two... awesome. And Thomas. I give Teal a slight edge due to the CBN being better (Z Temple).

I'd agree, but don't diss Sent Two by Two. Fantastic against all manner of CBN plays, not to mention demons.

Quote
multiple great characters: This is a push in quantity, but purple does get the edge in quality thanks to Thad.

Agreed.

Quote
multiple good support forts: Fishing Boat and TToD > Z Temple

Not to mention the use of Herod's temple. Not specifically Purple of course, but it deserves to be counted as a support fort for Disciples.

Quote
multiple interrupts: Which multiple interrupts are you talking about Reach + Situational Royal Parade? Push.

Uh, how about almost all the new purple Disciples enhancements? Passover Hymn, Faith as a Mustard Seed, My Lord and MY God, and Sons of Thunder.

Quote
banding: Teal has the best banding the game hands down thanks to Z Temple

In what world? Purple has three excellent bands just in Disciples: Thad + James, John + James, Bart + Phil. I use these (especially the latter) to great effect to keep CM or UW from being overly effective.

Quote
ignores: Neither brigade has great ignore, but purple gets an edge because of John

It's not especially viable nowadays, but a few sets ago, Purple kings was built around Ignore abilities to good effect, especially decks that utilized King Lemuel.

Quote
protection: Teal wins without contest

No contest?! Herod's Temple and The New Covenant beg to differ. Being protected from capture and conversion is nice, yes, and it's the reason I would give Teal second place overall, but Herod's Temple effectively protects from discard, and The New Covenant, while not legitimate protection, keeps Disciples from pretty much everything, aside from conversion. Throw in a generous use of both Thad and Barti, and I'd argue that Purple has much better protection, especially late game.

Quote
site access: Fishing Boat gets the edge.

Agree.

My count has purple ahead by a huge margin, especially since Purple can also be splashed. Not as popular as it was, but ET + AoCp still gets splashed into quite a few decks every now and then.

How in the world can Teal win protection with Thad hanging around?  At the very least, he'd give Z-temple a run for its money.

[In T1]
I voted for white. I originally voted for purple, but then I thought a bit more...

1. Purple's only good theme right now is Disciples
2. Disciples needs a rather large offense to be effective, IMO, which means the defense is weak.

White, on the other hand:
3. Only needs five heroes to be effective (Mary, Susanna, Salome, Lydia, and King Amaziah  ;D), and has options to go big or small.
4. TGT? Uber in early game.
5. Interrupts galore. Words, He is Risen, Blessings, Burning Bush, that one Daniel enhancement nobody will ever use...
6. Options for splash. It works well with Gold, Green, Purple, and Silver.
7. Searches. Consider the Lilies and that one local promo...
8. Speed. First Fruits and Words really help, and while that's not a huge amount, it's more than red, green, and gold, and it fits well into the theme, unlike blue's drawing.
9. Enoch is a pretty cool guy.
10. John Earley. Boi.
11. CBN banding. Legit.
12. It can negate and reuse Benedictus, one of the only ways to stop the new sites outside of battle.
13. Uniqueness. Setting aside evil characters FTW.

[In T2]
Purple. Thad is ridiculous. Especially with My Lord and My God, and five AoCPs, not to mention Fishing Boat site access and Reaches to speed things up.

[In TEAMS]
None. Characterless is the way to go. Sauce and I will surprise you all at nats.
