I like the idea of Redemption. It looks okay, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the time or money spent on it.

Convince me that Redemption is an incredible game. Convince me that it's one of the best of its kind. Convince me that I’ll love the game.

(I'm posting this in hopes that the answers sway not only me but anyone else who's interested that comes here.)

Redemption is great for a lot of reasons. #1 is that it is based on the Bible and is a great way to grow in knowing and loving the Word! Also, the fellowship is awesome - so many really truly caring (and fun) people who love the Lord and one another! Finally the strategy is so fun! Endless possibilities, a true challenge, and very enjoyable gameplay. I highly recommend the game!  :)

It's the best card game because it's based on the Bible. Play on lackey before you buy cards

I recommend it whole heartedly. I've played many other card games competitively and I've found redemption to be the best. It is much cheaper to play than other games, it is a bible based game, and the environment is one of the best there is. Practically everyone wants to see you succeed and have fun playing. There are some confusing situations within the rules but that's true of any game and the competition can get pretty fierce at high levels again true of any game. But at the end of the day the fellowship and fun you get from playing is awesome. I do recommend building and playing on lackey a bit before buying cards. Also booster draft and sealed deck are 2 of the best ways to get into the game. You get useful cards and the formats are fun. It also let's you learn the ins and outs of the game at a good pace instead of just being thrown into the fire of constructed competitive play. My recommendation is if you are on the fence on whether or not to spend money on the game go to a tournament and play booster draft and sealed. There's nothing quite like experiencing the tournaments and the friendships you'll make there.

I love this game. I went to a Tournament with a whole bunch of my friends for my 13th birthday party. I've made so many memories: Playing with my mom and sister at home, playing with friends, going to small local tournaments, finally winning a state tournament, meeting a whole bunch of new people at regionals, Playing in my first national tournament.

It is such a fun game. The people you will meet, the friendships, the memories, the strategy, the fact that it greatly increases your knowledge of the Bible, and the enjoyment of a REALLY fun game.

I'm a 24 year-old pastor now, and I still love playing this game.

You will not regret it!

there are no banned cards (Yet) which makes the game a lot more fun imo. it also allows for some crazy combos and decks to be built which makes the whole game much more enjoyable and competitive. also, the most expensive card is only $140, which is pretty cheap when compared to some of the cards in other ccgs. plus, you don't even need it in your deck to be competitive. there is a 5 dollar replacement for those who can't draw one in a pack or don't want to buy/trade one. and the best part in my opinion is that the community is small enough that anyone can influence the next set, ruling changes or new game types. and everyone is always willing to help make your deck better and actually want to see you do well. most people here would rather have a good game than beat everyone. except when it comes to states, regionals, and nationals. then all bets are off, prepared to be destroyed. ;D

You'll almost always be able to find someone willing to give you cards to get you started, so don't worry about money.

also, the most expensive card is only $140.

I like how you say only :)

While that is a significant amount of money, many other card games have cards that are much more expensive.

I think this is the best way that I could put it:

For my 300th post, I'd like to share why I play Redemption.

I've played a lot of different trading card games. I've even gotten playtesting credit for one before. None of them have ever been able to rival Redemption when it comes to strategic depth. From the deckbuilding rules, to the different brigades, to the multitude of card types, to the way that new sets build upon previous sets rather than replace them, Redemption is a strategist's dream-come-true.
Secondly, as is pretty typical, I love the biblical aspect of Redemption. I owe my discovery of Redemption to a priest working at a seminary that I would later attend. Suffice it to say that my relationship with God is the central aspect of my life, but that's not the only reason why the biblical aspect is so important to me. It is exceedingly difficult to create something for entertainment purposes that is faith-based, accessible, and well-made. With that said...
My biggest reason for playing Redemption is how astonishingly well-designed it is. Yeah, it had a bit of a rocky start, but the very idea behind Redemption is brilliant. The game of Redemption has achieved something absolutely incredible: it enables biblical scenarios to be translated into playable cards that reflect the nature of what they represent remarkably well. Furthermore, it takes the reality of spiritual warfare and depicts it in a way that is both truly serious and truly epic. Making a faith-based game that isn't mere trivia while remaining engaging and entertaining is an incredible feat. Redemption is nothing short of a work of art.
While Christians have come a long way in creating respectable faith-based entertainment, especially in the area of music, it remains so easy to slip into the sheer lameness that many have come to expect of Christian media. It makes faith and religion look so silly, childish, and laughably ill-equipped to guide this generation, much less the next. Works of art like Redemption stand athwart this misconception. Redemption is firmly, inescapably, and unapologetically Christian. It is simultaneously a trading card game with a well-toned card layout, magnificent art, fascinating game mechanics, and provoking themes distributed amongst a wide array of brigades and card types. This is a remarkably well-designed game.
It has been, and will always be, an honor to participate in this work of art with all of you.
Thank you, Mr. Anderson. May this game and its players never cease to give praise and glory to God with the spirit of holy leisure that Redemption so passionately fosters.

I'll also add, you don't even need a collection to enjoy the game. Booster and Sealed are categories many people enjoy, that provide as much (if not more) competition than other categories. These are based solely off cards you get in packs (or starters), and they really showcase all the cards in the game and how they interact so well. My first booster I was pretty close to last place, as it was the first time for me opening Priests packs and I drafted without a thought for what my deck would look like in the end.  :P Still, I remember having a ton of fun.

From there, I think you can determine if you will like the game.
If you were to go on a trip... where would you like to go?

Redemption is the greatest game I have ever played. It combines an amazing community, a bright future, endless possibilities and never ending play. If you have a question even the best players in the game will take the time to answer. The future and room to grow in the community and in the game is beyond spectacular. There is a endless list of things we can still add to the game to create variation and fun. This makes a never ending playlist.

It is the greatest game because it combines all the elements of so many great card games yet has a community that wants every individual to grow. This is why it is the greatest game I have ever played.
