A few questions about some special abilities

As I start getting back in the game, I am constantly up against new questions, usually with cards I haven't seen before, or re-worded SAs.

with that, I would appreciate some clarity:

1) Elisha's bones (green enhancement - heal and increase hero 2/2) - can this be played on the (losing) hero in battle that would otherwise be discarded? and does this mean the hero now stays in battle?

2) redirecting reach of desperation (interrupt battle, draw 3, may play the next enhancement) - what would it look like if the opponent redirects this?

3) can you play burial (evil dominant - discard a lost soul) on the lost souls card? does it matter if one of them has been rescued?

4) can david (green hero - he can use any enhancement bearing his name in the title/verse) play evil enhancements? (assuming they exist with "david" in title or verse)

5) ruth (white hero, negate evil characters) - does negate here only apply to evil character SA? Is this a "battle by the numbers" for the defense?
same with Foul Spirit (EC, negate heroes)

6) Son of God - 4th edition starter (negate and rescue a lost soul) - is this SA specific to this version of SoG? or so all SoGs "negate and rescue" and this is just updated wording?

Thanks a bunch for any help

1) Yes it can be used on a hero losing a battle, but this does not keep the hero in battle, because healing a character returns them to territory.

3) Yes, you may play it on the lost souls card.  No it does not matter if one has been rescued.

4) No, heroes can only play good enhancements.

5) Ruth negates the special ability on the evil character, but she does not negate the enhancements they play.  Same with Foul Spirit, he negates the special abilities of the heroes, but no the enhancements they play, so it is not a straight battle by the numbers.

6) it is specific to that version of SoG.  If you are planning on not wanting to negate a lost soul (say the shuffler), you can play the other version of Son of God.

Thank you! Here's one more...

Roman Spearman (EC, "if you control only RS in battle, toss all enhancements that are played this battle") - does this mean all good and evil enhancements that are played are used for their SA, and then discarded?

No, it's a bit more complicated. Basically, whoever has initiative plays an enhancement, but instead of activating it's special ability, you immediately discard it to decrease an opposing character by the strength of the enhancement discarded.

2) redirecting reach of desperation (interrupt battle, draw 3, may play the next enhancement) - what would it look like if the opponent redirects this?

I didn't see an answer to this, but it would depend on the cards being used in the battle. If your opponent used the "Play Next" part of Reach, then most "redirect" cards would target the next enhancement, rather than Reach. If your opponent did not play another enhancement, then Reach could be targeted. What happens next would depend on the exact wording of the redirect card, and what exactly your opponent did with Reach's ability.

Do you have more details?

I had played RoD, decided not to play the next enhancement, my opponent played Denying Blame (interrupt and redirect the last good enhancement played in battle - play the redirected enhancement as if it were yours, regardless of its brigade color)

In this case, your opponent could do any (or all) of the following:

1.) Interrupt the Battle (your opponent is currently only interrupting RoD, which has no effect)
2.) Draw 3 Cards
3.) Play the next enhancement

I believe it would also cause you to have to place the 3 cards you drew back, since it is now played as they played it (not you).

I guess that would be true. I may have been mixing up Interrupt and ItB in my own sentence.   ;)

However,  if you did not end the battle, or remove the characters/enhancement , then the cards would be drawn again after the interrupt ends. I believe the redirect creates a separate set of abilities,  unless I have misunderstood redirect.

Redirect cards are some of the most confusing in the game. That might be because there are so few, or maybe because it's a messy ability, or maybe because the redirect cards we have were all written a long time ago and none have been released in the "modern era".

As I understand redirect, it is essentially the same as taking the Enhancement off of the character it was played on and playing it on your character (regardless of brigade and alignment). While physically moving the card (from a Hero to an Evil Character) is not technically the correct line of play, I've seen people do that simply to help represent what is actually happening and to help better keep track of numbers on the correct side of the battle.
