Not to one up Minnesota or anything (come to think of it that's exactly why) Manitoba is the land of 100 000 lakes.

They were named after the lakes in MN, where the team was first organized (before the team moved to Los Angeles).

Besides, if the Canadians can own that waterway near them, manifest destiny would require the US to own the Pacific...
