I "would" look like I ate a whole plate of mushrooms..... that just happened to be mixed in with sphaghetti sauce that was poured over noodles and topped off with some delicious Parmesan cheese!

Uhm... no it's not. Halloween originated NOT even close to a Christian holiday. In fact, many of the origins have to do with demons and spirits. I'll try to get concrete facts soon.

Two things I know are the name and the origin of "trick or treat." The name started with demonic stuff. I don't know the exact information on that, wikipedia does a good job explaining the origin of the name. The classic "trick or treat" that everyone says originated with demonic spirits; if the people wouldn't leave the spirits treats they would haunt then, hence the term "trick or treat."

Going from house to house getting candy is celebrating halloween. You can make yourself feel good by saying "food donations," but if you and your family are dressing up and going from house to house, or even going to a few houses, you're celebrating the holiday and taking part in it.

You're thinking of the Celtic festival of the harvest. The Church moved halloween and easter to days of Celtic festivals, basically so that the Celts would celebrate the Christian festivals instead of the pagan festivals.

To say that it is the "celebration of the resurrection of the dead" is a made-up statement trying to justify something that has horrific origins involving child sacrifice, demon worship, and burning.

I don't celebrate Halloween, but I did want to comment on this.

Christmas and Easter are never mentioned in scripture either, and their roots are far more pagan in nature than Halloween, yet you still celebrate them as 'christian holidays.' So who exactly gets to make the decision of what's a 'Christian Holiday'? Obviously not the god we worship, or else we'd be celebrating the Holy Days that HE laid out and not our own inventions and mutilations.
