JOYCE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!
This is a change that Bud Selig can safely administer. Why? It doesn't change the result of the game, i.e. win or loss. Several times during a season offical box scores are changed, e.g. errors to hits, doubles to singles, etc. They change the stats of those players involved but do not change the result of the game. Bud should change this game to be a perfect game for Galarraga and clearly specify the reasoning. This will be enough to prevent any issues with playoff games.Regarding Joyce, I feel so bad for him right now. I have umped many baseball games. I have made some bad calls. I am human. But there wasn't a replay to show my bad calls. As a result, I have stood by 100% of my calls in official capacities. Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't talked with my fellow umps about such calls. Umps, including Joyce, should look at this game as one of those once-in-a-lifetime occurences and continue to stand 100% behind their judgement calls. They have a tough job. The fact that Joyce became so emotional and admitted his error of judgement reveals the enormity of the situation. Finally, precedent has been set in the past by Fay Vincent and other commissioners who have gone and changed a highly visible stat such as this one, namely reversing no-hitters. Baseball will survive this whether it's changed or not. But I can tell you this, I told my son and will tell my future grandchildren and Lord willing, great-grandchildren, that Armando Galarraga was the 3rd pitcher to throw a perfect game in 2010, and the 21st overall.
What about Strasburg? 14 Ks, the 2nd most strikeouts this season...Kirk
Yanks will be fine.. Every team has a bad month or two during the regular season! Now worries, Yanks have a great shot at the title come playoff time!
