Aren't the Giants playing Posey primarily as a first baseman? He's got 8 games there, and only two under the gun by my count.

You're right but all fantasy leagues have him listed at least as a catcher.  Good job, by the way picking him up in our league.  You got him just before I did.  He's great for fantasy leagues because you can stick him at catcher and get 1B stats.

Yeah, SF is pro-fantasy in my book.  Last year, I had Sandoval at catcher even though he hardly played there.  If it wasn't for that, Sean would have won the league last year.

And as for a rookie 2B, I think we'll go with Neil Walker of the Pirates.

Yeah, I saw his first day's stats, Knew Catcher was a weak point, and grabbed him.

Catcher is weak in general. I was just pointing out that Mauer has failed me. I'm glad I don't own a Mauer jersey.

Yeah, it looks like Mauer and Morneau have traded jerseys.   :o

Nah. Morneau hits .164 with 3 RBIs and 1 HR after the all star game, seems like he always has a crazy start.

Although, I've been complaining about the Mauer contract since it was signed (from a Twins fan!??! what!?!). Guess it was kind of hypocritical to draft him.

Every team has a bad month or two during the regular season! No worries, Yanks have a great shot at the title come playoff time!
This is part of why the regular season in Baseball is worthless.  If you can stink for 2 months of the year and lose tons of games, and still have a "great shot at the title", then why bother even having the regular season?

That is just part of having a playoff system. It doesn't matter as much who has the best record, but more who is performing better at the end of the regular season. The AL West champion this year will be lucky to have a winning record.

This is part of why your opinion about baseball is worthless. If you can stink up baseball threads with your hatred for the game, and still have a "great shot" at being an "Elder" on the Message Boards, then why even bother posting?

I'm curious as to the other part of why is opinion is worthless. I'd also add a smiley to your post, unless you were being serious, in which case I think you're out of line - The Professor does alot for this board, and he's entitled to his opinion about baseball.

Actually this particular opinion is not limited to baseball.  I would also say that the regular season in pro basketball is basically worthless for the same reason.

Compare this to college basketball, college football, or pro football.  Almost no team is going to lose all their games for a couple months in any of those sports and make it into the postseason.

;)
Whew, I was wondering if you were serious too :)

Unfortunately, no. Even though it will be held less than 50 miles from where I grew up, I will not be able to make the trip from Florida since I start school on the Monday following Natz.

I'm curious as to the other part of why is opinion is worthless.

1. He's not really a professor.
2. He uses red brigade.
3. He uses performance enhancing drugs to help him win card games.

Perhaps its because I haven't met you in person...

Unfortunately for the Professor, he has.  ;)

Actually, it was a joy to meet and spend some time with you and your family.  I'd love to return the favor sometime if you ever head up this way :)

I have not met YMT in person either, but I immediately was busting a gut on that one!  :rollin:

But on a serious note, the MLB regular season is the most relevant part of the entire season in ANY sport.  It's ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-TWO games, and goes on for half a year!  It's a marathon race!  Of course players and teams will go through slumps, but in the end whoever survives goes to the playoffs.  As a traditionalist, I would really like to see the post-season return to just being the championship and world series, and get rid of the wild card.

It's like Paul said, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
