I know there are some managers who check on their teams periodically.

For Moberly Saints/Bryan H and dynasty/bmc25yankee, I sent you both a trade proposal.

The fun result of having rotisserie points is that your daily +/- can be in indirect proportion to your teams performance.  One day my team batted over .400 with OBP over .450 with average pitching stats and I lost 1.5 points.  The next day I batted less than .250, had no wins or saves, but gained 2 points.   :D

The only Bryan H I know of is Hake.  However, he spells his name with an o, not an a.

If I Google "Moberly Saints" I get a lot of hits in Missouri.  Is this maybe a friend of The Prez?

Congrats to Sean for moving into first place!  (thanks to some of my former players  :D )

I have made the long comeback from <80 pts to >140, jumping back and forth between 3rd and 6th.

And the season is only about 40% over.   :o   Lots of great baseball to go!

Double postage.  (Allowed since I am STAMP.  ;) )

The first half is over.  I'm looking forward to watching the All-Star game with my two best friends.  Here is an analysis of my first year of fantasy baseball:

4 Yahoo leagues
Redemption Community - I drafted losers and by the end of April I was in second to plast place.  But after many shrewd moves, I have climbed to third place.  Sean and Janissary have some really good teams so i don't know if I can climb past them into 1st or 2nd.  But anything can happen in the second half.  Best player: Prince Fielder.  Biggest surprise: Kung Fu Panda, aka Pablo Sandoval.

Avalon Drive - This is a league for our neighborhood.  I started off middle of the pack but made a couple of trades and ascended to first by the end of April.  Been there ever since.  Best player: Ryan Braun.  Biggest surprise: Grady Sizemore.

Head-to-head public league - I would have been in first place but in the last game of the week on Sunday night, Ludwick hit two homers and had four RBIs that pushed me down to third.  We actually have a girl in this league.  And she is good!  Best player: Chase Utley.  Biggest surprise: Ben Zobrist.

Rotisserie public league - In first and dominating every category except AVG.  Funny thing is that all my teams have cruddy averages.  Best player: Zack Greinke.  Biggest surprise: Mark Reynolds.

2 MLB leagues
Head-to-head league #1 - I participated in the draft in this one.  You get either a win or loss for the week.  After three weeks I was 1-2 and hoping Mauer would come back soon.  I am now 12-2, best record in the league counting both divisions.  Best player: Joe Mauer.  Biggest surprise: Marco Scutaro.

Head-to-head league #2 - I autodrafted this league after setting up my pre-draft rankings.  I got crushed this past week but still have the best record in the league at 11-3.  Best player: Albert Pujols.  Biggest surprise: Michael Bourn.

OH YEAH!  Manny pinch grand slam last night on first pitch!!...and it was Manny bobblehead night to boot!!!

And just now Mark Beuhrle throws a PERFECT GAME!!  Another one of my teams has Beuhrle and Jonathan Sanchez who threw a no-hitter earlier.

Injuries have hurt Janissary and Isengard Orcs, although the latter has Justin Upton back who is on a tear.

My jump into second has all been due to my pitchers actually starting to pitch.  I've improved in just about every one of my pitching categories.  Will it be enough?  Hard to say.  But I have had a ton of fun with this league!  I just wish some of the other managers actually managed their teams, (even though it helped me climb the standings in June and July  ;) ).

Friends in the league,
I have posted a message on the league page concerning next season's scoring options.  Please share your opinions on my planned changes.

As for the league standings, I was was surprised at the 5 point jump STAMP had a few days ago.  I am glad though that the standings have settled back to where they belong...with me in first.  Looking like a good race for 1st this year.  Who's pitchers will get more wins?  I think that may be the stat that determines whether STAMP or myself get first place.
May you prosper greatly!

LOL, the only reason I'm making you work for it is that my pitchers finally started to pitch.  Of course, Wolf and Kershaw are all of sudden injured.   :o

(Hmmm...guess I'll have to go look at the scoring options.  I'm guessing you're throwing out the ones you scored low in?    )

Well it was certainly an interesting last two weeks of the fantasy baseball season.  My pitching had finally turned around in September and with a little more than a week to go I was in first place with an eight point lead on Sean.  I thought I had it wrapped up at that point.  Then my pitching fell off the deep end!  No more wins so Sean passed me up.  No more saves so Awesome Ninjas passed me up in saves and K's.  And someone passed me in ERA.  After 4 days of that, Sean and I were tied for first.  I figured my only chance at that point was for Wolf, Hanson and Kershaw to have good games.  They did from a strikeout standpoint but none of them won.  I did regain the lead but was worried going into the final weekend.  I decided to pick up every available Minnesota and Detroit relief pitcher in hopes of picking up two points with holds.  I also sat my entire batting lineup on Sunday so as not to lose any ground in AVG and OBP.  In the end I lucked out.  I still think Sean has the better team.  I had to make a lot of free agent moves to beat him...and just barely.

Congratulations to everyone!  I haven't had this much fun during the baseball season since I was in 5th grade.  We did fantasy baseball on paper in 1975!!  I still remember the starting players on my team:

1B Rod Carew
2B Jorge Orta
3B Toby Harrah
SS Bert Campaneris
OF Joe Rudi
OF Mickey Rivers
OF Jeff Burroughs
DH Tony Oliva
SP Bert Blyleven
SP Vida Blue
SP Ken Holzman
SP Nolan Ryan
SP Ferguson Jenkins
