I was interested in this thread for a while, but now it looks like thisBubble Boy: I DON'T LIKE FOOTBALL SO I'M GOING TO TRY TO MAKE YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT LIKING IT WITH FALLACIES!Lambo: *sound reason, sound reason, dictionary citation, sound reason*Kiddies: SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMBubble Boy: FOOTBALL MAKES ME CRY!Lambo: *sound reason, sound reason, dictionary citation, sound reason*Why don't we cut through all the noise. Bubble Boy, was one of your friends or loved ones recently injured in a football game? Did you recently attend a bible study that put football down? Why don't we talk about the issue instead of hiding behind blinds while dancing around it?Lambo, I'm surprised you didn't point out that if "violent" sports are the most popular, Rugby should be on top.
Now don't get me wrong, I love BB and he's one of the best contributors on this board, but I can smell euphemism and hidden motivation a mile away and there is a ton of it here.

You also don't realize how many people are put though college though sports do you? the number 1 way to get though college is football schoarships
I'm from Pittsburgh. So you can just imagine about how happy I am about Ovechkin.
The only think I can figure is that there is some girl that BB likes, and she is annoying him by being too enamored with some football jock instead of BB.
1. If by saying "fighting is accepted in hockey", you mean it carries a 5 minute penalty, you are correct. If your referring to how refs don't intervene until one player is grounded (typically), I'd like to respectfully ask you to intervene the next time you see two 200 pound guys throwing down.
I feel it incumbent on me to defend my personal favorite sport, hockey. It is by far less violent than football. Football necessitates contact, and in fact, favors you when you put a player on the ground via a pancake block, stiff arm, broken tackle, etc. By doing this, you are directly helping your team win by elimating threats for the runner. In Hockey, hitting players does little to help you put the puck in the net, which is the goal of the game. Hitting merely serves as a means to establish yourself as a team that is not afraid and that will work hard to win. Occasionally it serves as a means of seperating the puck from the puck carrier. But by no means does a team have to hit to win. Find me a team in football who does not hit and wins.
This is basically what any other event can offer (Redemption for example), except this one is exceptionally violent.
