A Statement from Matt

Hey guys, I had talked to Matt Sinclair yesterday, and he told me a few things that I felt should be posted here, but he felt that I could write it better. So, this is why I'm writing it and not him.

Matt has been seeing a Psychiatrist for some time now, and yesterday he was diagnosed with Intermittent Explosive Disorder. This really helps explain his outbursts of absolute rage that can occur.

After learning about this, Matt made a pretty smart decision. He said he will be avoiding (not quitting per say) T1 for a while, and just play T2 instead. Why? The faster pace and higher tension found in T1 could very well be causing his IED (terrible, yet fitting abbreviation...) to trigger more often.

So, while it is upsetting to be told that you have another mental illness, Matt has handled it very well, and simply knowing about it seems to help him understand why he behaves certain ways.

That makes total sense. I've noticed him being much more calm in our T2 games, and I think it's great he's taken the news so well and found a way to adapt in order to keep playing redemption while accounting for his thorn in the flesh. The only people who are truly mentally ill are those who refuse to accept their weaknesses.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

The only people who are truly mentally ill are those who refuse to accept their weaknesses.
but thing of it is pol, most people who don't accept their weakness, often don't even know that it is their weakness til it's been brought to their attention, by then the question will be "do they accept their weakness or do they not?" and even if they accept it or not, the important thing to remember is, weaknesses can be fixed and made into a strength. so put it this way, like say if my weakness in redemption was: not knowing how to play artifacts correctly and you point it out to me, i either have two choices: i can either reconize this weakness and learn how to play artifacts, or i can just sit here, do nothing and let the weakness eat me up and take the fun out of the game for me. while a person can refuse to accept their weakness, they can still make an effort to change it and make it into a strength just as a person who does accept their weakness, they don't do anything about it and just let their weakness continue to be to them as kryptonite is to superman.

Accepting it as in giving it power. Obviously if you are in denial about even having a disability that's a bad thing ::)

i did not say that. i was only using superman as an example of those who do nothing about their weakness. their weakness will only continue to destroy them figuretivly. and as far as superman and batman are conserned, why would superman wish he was as cool as batman? he has powers that batman doesn't have and batman only relies on his gadgets, smarts, and martial arts to kick some hind and send jokers packin. but that's beside the point and off topic.
getting back on topic

if one is in denial about even have a disability, then they are only deceiving themselves. i accept the fact that i have a disability, but why i do, only God knows and what i do know is, i can get through life knowing what i have and relating and knowing people who know what i struggle through, makes going through this life easier cause im not the only one who has it.
sure my disability may have a negative effect when going through life, but i live with my disability cause even though there is no known cure for it, i know that God still loves me for who i am and my defects don't change a thing about his love. i may feel like i'm a black sheep amongst white sheep in the flock while im on the forums as far as disability goes, but i know there's a God up in heaven and he loves each and every one of us equally, no matter our differences in gender, race, or heritage, he loves us all the same.
