Pier Francesco Mola lived in the 1600's. As such his work is in the public domain. It's not at all uncommon for businesses and websites to offer PD pieces for a premium cost. I don't speak whatever language is used on the website you linked, but I've seen enough like it to assume that is what they are doing. I have no concerns about using the Pier piece on Rapha or another card.

The Pier Francesco Mola piece belongs to the permanent collection of the Louvre. The Louvre rules state that "Artworks in the permanent collection exhibition rooms may be photographed or filmed for private use by the operator." The Louvre does provide a professional images, which I linked to earlier, but they note, "N. B.: images may be reproduced for private use only." They also provide a legal means of licensing their content.

The art itself may be public domain, but the claim is that the photographic representation is not.

Heck even a freelancer

although full blown art would be a more expensive freelance proposition.

i love the classical art. i used to love the comic like artwork, but the classic art has become my favorite.

it's so holy looking and epic- like the Bronzino

it really is priceless.. thankful we can use it as public domain

Kariusvega is correct. As the internet and digital capabilities grow it’s become increasingly easier to find good quality art for well know people and events. The challenge is finding usable stuff for the less know people and events.

Giants must not have been popular in the past because there’s very little art for them outside of the story of Goliath.

For those voting, do not hesitate to vote on the Mola piece if that's your favorite. We're able to use it and you won't waste a vote.

To give an accurate perspective I've added a full art rending of the Bartolomeo Pinelli piece on post #3. It's currently the bottom option.

Here's what I'll do. People can vote and change their vote for the next 72 hours. At Friday around 4 pm CST, I'll remove any option that does not have at least 20% of the vote. Once those options are removed, the people who voted for them can change their vote to a remaining option (if they wish). If only one option has more than 20% that option will be chosen.
