Operation: Make Exodus Playable

Hey guys.

In this thread I will be remaking every Exodus card that is in dire need of a reprint. I have already remade the 10 Plagues in another thread, found here

Currently, I am trying to hammer out the basic ideas, so no pretty pictures just yet.  ;) Due to the number of cards in this project, I will be doing this in sections. I am open to any suggestions to make cards less OP or UP, or just more relevant to their Biblical origin.

Some of my basic ideas I am playing with. I am keeping the original idea of exodus being split between gold and green. If a card is related more to Moses, it will be gold. If it is related more to Aaron, it will be green.

Here is the first batch of card ideas.

Elders of Israel
3/4 Gold Hero -- Special Ability: May band to a male Exodus hero. If banded into battle, look at the top card of your deck. If it is a good card, add it to your hand and decrease an Evil Character by 1/1. -- Identifiers: Generic OT Male Human, May have 4 copies per 50 cards -- Verse: Exodus 3:16

Bezaleel
4/4 Green Hero -- Special Ability: Search deck for The Tabernacle and play it. May band to Oholiab or Ithmar, son of Aaron to search deck for a Tabernacle artifact and add to hand. -- Identifiers: OT Male Human -- Verse: Exodus 38:22

Ithamar, son of Aaron
4/4 Teal Hero -- Special Ability: Search deck for The Tabernacle and play it. May band to Bezaleel or Oholiab to search deck for a Tabernacle artifact and add to hand. -- Identifiers: OT Male Human, Tabernacle Priest (House of Ithamar) -- Verse: Exodus 38:21

Oholiab
4/4 Gold Hero -- Special Ability: Search deck for The Tabernacle and play it. May band to Bezaleel or Ithmar, son of Aaron to search deck for a Tabernacle artifact and add to hand. -- Identifiers: OT Male Human -- Verse: Exodus 38:22

Jethro
4/3 Teal Hero -- Special Ability: Draw a card (or two if Moses is in play). -- Identifiers: OT Male Human, Priest -- Verse: Exodus 2:16

Jochebed
4/7 Gold/Green Hero -- Special Ability: You may search the deck for Moses, Aaron, and Miriam and place them in your hand. If you search for Moses, set him aside for 2 turns instead. Immune to Evil Egyptians. -- Identifiers: OT Female Human -- Verse: Exodus 2:3

Miriam
4/4 White/Green Hero -- Special Ability: Hero ignores evil gold brigade. May band to a female Exodus hero. -- Identifiers: OT Female Human, Musician, Prophet -- Verse: Exodus 15:21

Pharaoh's Daughter
7/5 Gold Hero -- Special Ability: Hero is immune to Evil Egyptians and has access to all Egyptian sites. Select one male hero and protect it from Opponent's cards until the end of the turn. -- Identifiers: OT Female Human, Egypt, Royalty -- Verse: Exodus 2:6

Women of Israel
3/4 Green Hero -- Special Ability: May band to a female Exodus Hero. If banded into battle, you may negate an evil card. -- Identifiers: Generic OT Female Human, May have 4 copies per 50 cards -- Verse: Exodus 15:20

Tables of the Law
Artifact -- Special Ability: Holder may keep up to ten cards in hand instead of eight. During your preperation phase, you may discard this card to negate and discard an O.T. Artifact. -- Identifiers: OT, Tabernacle Item, Temple Item -- Verse: Exodus 24:12

The Tabernacle
Good Fortress -- Special Ability: Protect Exodus Heroes and Tabernacle Priests from evil cards that cannot be negated. If you play Solomon's Temple, discard this card (regardless of protection) and return it's contents to your hand. -- Identifiers: Play to territory, Holds one active Tabernacle Artifact -- Verse: Exodus 40:34

If you need some help, I was thinking of remaking the Egyptians in Exodus, so I could help you there. =)
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

I forgot to mention it in the OP, but I'm mainly focusing on offense right now. Exodus defense is fairly good as is right now. The current Exodus offense cards are absolutely terrible.

What Exodus defense is good?  I mean I guess you could play some hand control egyptians, but I would hardly call that fairly good, especially compared to the drawing of the genesis egyptians.

Play a game or two with Josh (TheKarazyvicePresidentRR) if you wish to know the horrors of Egyptian Deck Discard.

Nice card. Would see use in an Exodus deck as a utility bander, but I don't see the stackiness being used much since, while his secondary ability is useful, it's not useful enough to eat a card slot.

Bezaleel
4/4 Green Hero -- Special Ability: Search deck for The Tabernacle and place it in play. May band to Oholiab Ithmar, son of Aaron to search deck for a Tabernacle artifact and place it in your hand. -- Identifiers: OT Male Human -- Verse: Exodus 38:22

I'm guessing there was a word left out and I'm guessing it was "or." One does not place Fortresses in play, just play will suffice. You also don't place cards in your hand, so add there. Quite zippy without helping meta-speed at all, well done.

I see what you did there, but give them each at least a bit of flavor beyond brigade imo.

Wut. He doesn't have low enough numbers, good enough identifiers, or the proper reference to justify being just a D1 sometimes D2 when Jair gets to be a 2/2 D2 Judge.

Was "or" meant to be "and?" You said "them" so I assume so. The Green/Gold is nice, but with horrible numbers it doesn't matter too much. Assuming "or" is "and," it's a nice card that would find a home in some Genesis decks for the +3, but not all because the suspend 2 on Moses can rob you of a turn of powerful rescuing.

??? Unless you have a Love For Rachel-type enhancement to go with her, I have a hard time seeing this being more than an Apostles-era card. Did you mean to give her Purple? Because that would make her more usable.

Just not enough punch in the face of all the other cheap banders. Perhaps make it "When an Evil Enhancement is played, may band to a Female Exodus Hero?" That'd be wicked cool with Tabernacle up.

Aaaand the big daddy. I like it a lot. However, it's not quite enough to justify some of the weak characters, because it still does nothing about Failed Objective-type cards or Wonders Forgotten-type cards, which make up more of a defense than Plot and...well, kind of just Plot. I'd love to see a Solomon's Temple that plays off the Tabernacle Discard.

I've played it and beat it before. Exodus Egyptians need help badly, mainly with competent Exodus cards. Most of the good Egyptians arent Exodus.

What if the decrease portion was increased to 2/2 or 3/3? I'd like to play with the idea of Exodus being an offense that uses heavy self-banding (since they all stuck together in Exodus) and decreases.

That could be fun. Although, I have to wonder... if a card like this was printed, could you negate an evil character sitting in territory, preventing it's special ability from activating when it enters?

Both are referred to as Gold, but Pol's point is that there is no such thing as a good Gold Evil Character, thus evil Gold Evil Character is redundant.

I still don't think it'd be playable. You're looking at diminishing returns; having one gives you a nice vanilla bander with acceptable initiative, but adding another one gives you a two-card combo for a decrease of EC's (which rarely inhabit the territory) at the cost of a whole card slot.

Perhaps Beezie searches deck or discard for the Tabernacle, Isthmus the same for an Artifact, and Ohboy is able to activate the Artifact? Or some distribution thereof.

Maybe add a tutor for Zipporah or Elders of Israel (since Jethro suggested the elders system to Moses).

Quote
I initially meant or, but I could easily change it to and.
And would be good. Keeps with the theme of Exodus being Zippy McTutor without helping non-Exodus decks.

Quote
Similar to Jethro, I had a really hard time with this one. I'm open to ALL ideas.
Making her Gold/Purple would go a long way, as unique Brigade combinations are always nice. Perhaps "May search Deck for Drawn Out and play it. While Pharaoh's Daughter remains in play, Moses Cannot be Negated by an Evil card?"

Did you purposefully make it so that Jethro and Ithamar can't play all the Gold/Green Exodus enhancements you created?  Just curious.

Jethro was a priest who was mentioned briefly at the start of Exodus, and Ithamar was already teal as he is a priest. Plus, I thought it would be interesting to have a triple brigade self-band combo.

I save split brigade for special cases.

Suggestion to add perhaps:

Moses' Rod
Type: Artifact
Special Ability: Plagues with an Exodus reference cannot be negated.
Identifier: May be activated on Moses
Verse: Same as G/H deck one.

What do you think?

No, I am beginning to hate CBN battle winners. I find them toxic to the game.

CBP and CBI are fine. CBN is not.

That being said, I like the idea of it being activated on Moses.

Well, keeping the same as it was except being activated on Moses would be boring so maybe "Plagues with an Exodus reference cannot be prevented. At any time you may discard this card off of Moses to search deck or discard pile for an Exodus plague." and keep the "activate on Moses" identifier?

I already made a Plague searching card in my Plagues thread.

If those plagues were reprinted, then just a CBP ability by itself would be fine.
