Maranatha

My Idea:

Maranatha Purple/Gold Territory Class Enhancement

"Place in territory. Once per turn, if your NT Human Hero is harmed, you may search deck or discard pile for a NT good enhancement or artifact and top deck it. Discard if a good NT dominant is played. Cannot be prevented."

Reference: The only verse where the word Maranatha is mentioned (somewhere in the New Testament, I forget)

Theological inspiration: Maranatha, as far as I'm aware describes the longing for Jesus to return. Aka, why it gets discarded if Son of God/New Jerusalem/SecondComing etc are played, because well, you will no longer long for the coming of Christ once Christ has come.

Your thoughts???

Thanks again!

Your Aussie brother in Christ, Andy :)

I don't think this would be played as-is. I think it would have to be multi, and do something better than topdecking an Enh or Art from deck to make it worth playing despite the easy discard clause.
If you were to go on a trip... where would you like to go?

I agree, it is a bit underwhelming as is. I was thinking of doing full multi, but didn't do it full multi  :dunno:

How about this:

'Maranatha' Multi-brigade TC GE

ID: X= # of NT Bible icons in your discard pile

"Place in territory: Each upkeep, you may search deck for a NT Bible icon and add it to hand. If opponent plays a Lamb icon, banish this card to search deck or discard for a hero, or draw X. Cannot be prevented."

*For those who are wondering, banish= remove from the game, bible icon= good enhancement, lamb icon= good dominant

I personally like this version 1000% more, I've edited this I don't know how many times now lol. Please tell me what you think.

I'm glad you like it, because I love it. Do you have any ideas on how to balance it out a little better, MasterQ?

Edit: I'm thinking of restricting it to "if opponent plays a NT Lamb icon", and "you may search for a NT hero". Would that be enough to restrict it's power a bit, or would we need to do a little bit more? If that's not enough, I could get rid of the hero recursion from discard clause.

Also, I really think it should just be 4 brigades: Purple, Clay, Green and Gold.

Edit: *Upon very quick reflection, this would make it incompatible with NT white offenses. :/

**FINAL, most recent and IMPORTANT** edit:

'Maranatha' Purple/Clay/Green/Gold TC GE

ID: You may search discard via this ability Once Per Game. X= # of NT Bible icons in your discard pile.

"Put in territory: Each upkeep, you may search deck or discard for a NT Bible icon and add it to hand. If opponent plays a NT Lamb icon, banish this card to search deck for a NT hero, or draw X. Cannot be prevented."

 Thoughts?

it's a good ability nt gold has basically been forgotten as a whole theme.

i think you could cut the lamb icon part and just make it 'banish to do this' but also i think you should make it to where you can make your opponent draw too cause nt gold works well with abom since it has forced draw cards. egyptians too, with watchful servant. you can make them deck way more quickly than usual.

Hmm, okay I'll roll with that :) How does this version sound:

'Maranatha' Purple/Clay/Green/Gold TC GE

ID: You may search discard via this ability Once Per Game.

"Place in your territory: Each upkeep, you may search deck or discard for a NT Bible icon and add it to hand. You may banish this card at any time to search deck for a NT hero or force all to draw 3. Cannot be prevented."

So no biggy, but I made the card!

Spoiler (hover to show)

The reference is taken from the International Standard Version, I thought it had the best wording.

Two interesting words from the original transcripts:

Anathema= let him be cursed (condemned)
Maranatha= The Lord has come/ is coming

I like that we've changed it to interact with abom/forced draw, because now this card gets to execute the judgment that the word anathema promises by destroying opponent's territory, because by banishing maranatha, we are no longer waiting for the Lord to come, because He has come! :)

Me too :) I originally wanted art that had people that looked like they were waiting on earth underneath a depiction of Jesus/ the second coming, but none fit and were pretty lacklustre, so I chose this one instead. I think it's a depiction of the New Jerusalem, and it contains the 4 brigade colours quite prominantly in the art work, so the artwork, brigades and border all tie together really well. I am very happy with this card, I think it looks beautiful. Good ability too :B

I really like this card. It occupies the sweet spot between broken and borink. My only issue with it is that it creates another auto-block with an already-centralized Foreign Wives, but NT is rarely used so maybe that's an appropriate price to pay to get some diversity on offense. Mayhem delenda est.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Oh yeah, I see what you're saying about FWives. With the "at anytime... force all to draw 3" clause, you could banish it just before blocking with her, then force all to draw, meaning she would quite easily become protected, and have extra cards in hand too. But that aside, I also love this card because it has the potential to really speed up NT offenses a heck of a lot, and it's really versatile too. Also, it looks really beautiful :)
