Athens Marketplace

My son and I were playing Civilization and came up with this (the cost-effect was still negotiable):

Athens Marketplace

Good Fortress

Set this fortress aside. During upkeep phase, place one marker on this fortress. Once per turn, during preparation phase, holder may remove three markers to search discard pile for a good enhancement, or may remove four markers to return one captured hero to holder's territory, or may remove five markers to convert any human evil character to a hero in brigade of holder's choice, or may remove six markers to search discard pile for an artifact.

Acts 17:17 "So Paul was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present."

That's a cool idea, but super long. Sounds like something that would work well in a different game...

I know. I was just throwing out possibilities for cost-effect. I can edit/remove any of them. I wasn't sure what people would think were "fair" costs, without being OP'd.

I would just do like...

2 counters: Recur/Search a good enhancement
3 counters: Recur/Search a good fortress
7 counters: Recur/Search a good dominant (You deserve it for waiting. :P)

I like it, but I agree the wording should be simpler.

Athenian Marketplace
Good Fortress
-Plays to Set Aside-
During upkeep phase, place one marker on this fortress. Once per turn, during preparation phase, holder may remove:
-Three counters to search Discard Pile for a Good Enhancement
-Five counters to Convert an Evil Character
-Six counters to search Discard Pile for an Artifact

Super turtles are no good. Timeout ftl. Although I do agree three turns is too short a time to wait for AoCP again.

im glad to see at least one type that can successfully foster the benefits of such an archetype.

Agreed. That's one of the few things I like about board games better than Redemption: they last long enough to be fun, but not so long that it drags out.

*EDIT*
Yeah, and with TGT it would be unbearable. Put fort down, add counter. ET+AoCP territory. Next turn, Burial Shroud or TGT if it cleared them out. Next turn, ET+AoCP again. Then, TGT and if you're still not winning, get AoCP back in three turns.

It is a good fortress, not a neutral fortress.  ;)

Grapes of Wrath says hi.

Most defensive based dominant ever - More often than not I use it for a block rather than a rescue.

Set this fortress aside. During upkeep phase, place one marker on this fortress. Once per turn, during preparation phase, holder may remove three markers to activate a UAV, or may remove five markers to call in an airstrike, or may remove seven markers to request helicopter support, or may remove twenty-five markers to launch a tactical nuke.

Silly silly Lambo. When a player as great as you is playing, you don't launch a tactical nuke after getting it with only throwing smoke grenades. That'd wreck your  KDR.

I'm going to make an evil version, Babylon was also a merchant city of wealth, ISA 43:14; EZE 17:4
