I'd rather not have my thread hijacked...  Any further comments on Dom Limited?  It looks like not too many people like the idea...

I've already set it up that NJ counts as two doms, so if you play SoG/NJ, you can't have a third good dom.

I like this idea. Kind of like playing chess with lit fireworks.

The whole purpose is to add more strategy to a deck, rather than just plugging in all the doms.

Just ban all doms. Dom limited is kind of half-baked.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

this is utterly stupid. i am not a speed player. i did not read the whole discussion so i am not sure if it is for every t1 category but i wan't to know if i can still have sog/aotl/nj/goys/cm/burial in my t12p deck.

*never mind

i just realised this would be a varient of type 1 and not for every type 1 tourney. i feel really lame :'(

I'm trying to get around this without banning anything.  This is more strategic (I think, you may differ) than a dom-less game.  What backup do you want to give your team?

I do differ, greatly. Dom-lite is more strategic than T1, dom-less is more strategic than dom-lite.

Dom-lite is more strategic than T1, dom-less is more strategic than dom-lite.

How so?

If you are familiar with Type NW, 1 on 1   or  Team Play, the playing field is level to start. All decks are built within set parameters. Everyone has 70 cards in their decks, there are no Doms and, at one time, games were limited to 1 hour. Which ever Person or Team was ahead at the time limit won the game. Without the element of Doms and decks being 70 cards, deck building takes on a creative twist. Thinking outside the box of Doms and having 70 cards really fires up the thinking of which cards could be played that normally aren't. There are normally more balanced back and forth battle scenarios that many players I know really enjoy. Like any game, there are intuitive players that just seem to see the mechanics of the game/type and dominate. I'm not one of them, but I still enjoy playing anyone. I, personally, would play either T1 or Type NW (Dom-less) rather than Dom-lite, but that is simply my preference. There needs to be a significant difference in Type for players to try, otherwise it becomes Type 1 with some house rules.

Godspeed,

Hmm.   I still don't like the idea of banned cards, or of a fixed deck size.  I'll have to try it out though...

Does NW stand for anything in particular?

Type NorthWest. It was started by Scott Stamp (STAMP) who is from the region, and they started doing it at their tournaments as a fun bonus category. It cought on and he has made it a non-official nationals category for the last few years (not sure about last year though). It's a LOT of fun, and I agree with the above posters, it, in my opinion, takes a lot more strategy.
As a national champion, I support ReyZen deck pouches.
