Music is my greatest passion (outside of God), and I realized the lack of musical inspiration here.

I just wanted to get a long thread going about how music is really important, and how it can help us connect with God, and how we will become better Fathers/Wives/Sons/Daugters/friends/ect. by listening and practicing music.

A book that Changed my life about music was called The Unquenchable Worshipper by Matthew Redman, and just loved the read, not to long, but a really good for any person who worships God, not just through music.

Some music that has changed my life is Mainly Steward Townsend, and his song How Deep the Father's Love for us, My all time favorite song.

I was just starting this to just see how music has affected others, and how they sing and other things.

Too bad we can't type singing :(

Oh well!

I also love music, though I don't play any instruments. Music really is a gift from God! Along with worship, which literally nothing tops in terms of true and deep exhilaration, I really love the combination of music and prayer.

Misty Edwards is my favorite worship leader, whom God has greatly blessed me through in worship in content, style, and heart for Jesus. I also really like Lecrae. I highly recommend his new album, Anomaly!

There's not really a lack of musical inspiration here. We have music threads a couple times a year.

I'm into recording music.  I'll post the EP I've been working on when I'm finished with it (which admittedly won't be for at least another month, more likely 2).  I also play piano and dabble in basically every other non-percussion instrument.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of bands I probably can't post about on these forums.  Also some locals that are good, like Safe in Blue.  Also soundtracks, namely The Artist (best ever) and How To Train Your Dragon 2.  Every now and then I listen to No More Kings.  Also: Beatles/Michael Jackson Pandora at work, which I'm thoroughly sick of.  Also whatever my roommates are listening to, which is a lot of musicals.

As far as how music helps me connect to God: music goes deeper than an emotional level for me.  The mere beauty of it all directs my attention towards him.  I've had more authentic worship experiencing listening/singing to random stuff than listening to praise music because the music puts me in that sort of mindset better, and when I get lost in the music, I turn that into worship.  It's kind of odd to explain, but it's magical.

Lana Del Rey, The White Stripes, Washed Out, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Clarence Clemons, Lou Reed, James Blake and Adam Lambert are a few of my favorites.

Rawrlolsauce!'s Music Genre Power Ranking

1. Hip Hop (especially anything backpacky)
2. Folk Punk
3. Indie/alt
4. Pop
5. Everything else except classic rock
6. Classic Rock

I'd drop some artist names, but they probably aren't too appropriate. Although Hopsin was christian up until like 3 months ago....
