It's roughly 25 bucks at all the big box stores.

They have the revised edition now that has the rules from their Black Ops release, so it's a good time to buy.

I'd try to tempt you to pass over Risk for something like Twilight Struggle or War of the Ring but they cost like twice as much and you have to go online to find them at that price, if at all.

Still, I think every home should have one copy of Risk, much like Scrabble and Yahtzee and Monopoly.

Writing provocative language very very small does not mean it's no longer provocative.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Well, if you have a copy, then people won't be getting you a copy for your birthday.  No I do not want Seinfeldopoly or Avataropoly or Marvel Heroesopoly.  Having a copy of the original is a defense against these incursions.

I also have a copy of Solarquest in case anybody wants to play a game that's like Monopoly, except in space, and fun.  But a good gaming host is ready to bring any desired game to the table, even one that destroys families.

I'll stick with my wholesome family board games: Dark Tower, Tower of the Wizard King, Dark World, and Grand Imperialism. Oh yeah, and Disney Sorry!

Hey, now, I didn't say I don't like capitalist games.  Just bad ones.

Power Grid and Wealth of Nations are much more elegant examples of how supply/demand and economies of scale work.

Boy you just don't get it.  It's all the action-packed fun of Monopoly but with place names from someplace else, which makes it a brand new game. Have you seen Buckeye-opoly?  It is--and I know it's hard to believe--Monopoly set on the Ohio State campus. I say O! What about Bass Fishing Lakes Monopoly--featuring Lake Champlain and Lake Winnepesaukee? Whoo-eeee, what a hoot!!!

Hey, now,...I don't like capitalist games.
That explains it.

BTW, agreed on Solarquest. Even if it's mostly Monopoly, at least there are laser battles, you sometimes get trapped endlessly circling a planet, and you can always learn the vital stats of the planet/satellites you own.

Hook, Line and Sinker! Fishing season is open! Reel in bass fishing prize catches as you play this lakes edition of the world's most famous board game. The BASS Fishing Lakes edition of the MONOPOLY game is fully stocked and it's every angler for him or herself. On the hook are some of the country's most popular fishing lakes including Lake Champlain and Lake Winnipesaukee. Also included are 6 collectible pewter tokens including a Largemouth Bass, Bass Fishing Boat and Bass Fishing Reel. If you are one of the 20 million bass anglers pursuing the ultimate catch, this special edition of America's classic board game is one catch you won't want to release. Cast out and compete to reel in all the prized lakes.
If you didn't know it was Monopoly, it sounds like it would be fun.

Seriously though if you are going to get a copy of Risk either get the basic one, Risk 2210 or Lord of the Rings trilogy edition

But the "new" basic one, not the original.  I actually just acquired the rebooted version of Risk and it's awesome.

Though not everyone will like the replacement of army "men" with arrow pieces.  But I have the LotR trilogy Risk for that.

The original original one (i.e., the one I had as a kid) had roman numerals (I, V, and X) instead of army men. I have been searching garage sales for a set of those to use as T2 counters.

You mean back when armies actually HAD pikemen?  ;)

The only reason that particular type of soldier comes to mind is that the new Risk box has pikemen on the cover, which looks ridiculous against the backdrop of a modern warfare (and geography) theming.

Actually I think the original one (i.e. the one my friend's parents had, and which I played as a kid) had wooden blocks instead of army men.  And the whale wore a hat like Donald Duck :)
