I didn't delete your thread.  But I would guess that the thought was that anything related to Harry Potter didn't belong on this forum.  Harry Potter promotes the idea that witchcraft can be used for good, by good-guys.  That is probably not something that Cactus approves of.

And yet we are allowed to talk about World of Warcraft and Magic and all of that...there are many other games talked about on this forum that I would be worried about people talking about than a game based on a children's book.

No we are not allowed to talk about WoW or Magic, and threads on those subjects get deleted too.

After reading the guidelines...I don't see where I went astray with this thread. Harry Potter does not promote that good people can do witchcraft it is a story. Delete threads talking about LotR then...I believe Gandalf is a good guy (a CHRIST figure at that) and he performs witchcraft. Oh by the way Tolkien was a Christian. Sorry about the attitude but I think that is a little ridiculous to say that posting an innocent forum about Harry Potter cards is not following the guidlines.

Ok it shows good people performing it but it does not promote to kids "Go out and do witchcraft because we all know that its possible!!" , no. It is simply a story. And this time tell me how its ok that Lord of the Rings written by Christian author J.R.R. Tolkien is not wrong in "promoting" witchcraft done by good people AKA a Christ Figure.

Well I want to reassure you that I am not on board with the whole "LoTR is Christian" thing. Magic is a serious issue and an abomination to Yahweh. If you want, I can PM you my full beliefs about why Harry Potter is evil. But for now, can we all stop abusing forum rules just because "that other guy got away with it?"

Remember, two wrongs do not make a right.

Yes go ahead and PM me...I prob won't get back to it until tonight because I will be on the road all day but I would like to hear it. And I still don't see where this abuses the forum rules...and Tolkien was a Christian writer (fact). He was converted by C.S. Lewis I believe. Gandalf was a Christ figure just like Aslan...OH YEAH! The Chronicles of Narnia (DARE to call that wrong) also "promotes" witchcraft and magic. But Gandalf was a Christ figure in that he died to save his companions and rose again more powerful. Christian authors have Christ figures and Gandalf is one.

I agree that this does not demonstrate a very mature attitude.  I don't make the rules of this forum so don't get mad at me.  I'm merely suggesting that this is probably the reason why your thread got deleted.

P.S.  There are plenty of other places that you can talk about Harry Potter, and all of this other stuff.  If Cactus wants to limit topics on their privately controlled forum, then that is their prerogative.

I don't see how I am abusing the forum rules. And if I was I wouldn't be doing it just because the other guy did. I am bringing in examples of other games that "promote" witchcraft done by good people that are based on books written by Christian authors where the Christ figure is the one doing the magic. I just think people need to lighten up and realize that she simply wrote a story that was very popular. She is not implying that magic is real or that it can actually be done. She simply wrote a story that she knew would appeal to a lot of people and look, it did! If it is so wrong to talk about Harry Potter then I won't but I still think its a little ridiculous.

Okay people.  There is a huge difference between FICTION and real life.  Tolkien was a Christian and Gandalf is a Christ figure.  In Tolkien there is one God who created the world.  He sent Angels to watch over it.  By those standards actually Harry Potter himself is a Christ figure as he died to protect his people.  Sound familiar?  I am a fantasy junky so this really annoys me when people say that certain books, and therefore the authors, are evil because they have magic used by the good guys.  As Erick said there is C.S. Lewis's magic use.  I mean they walk through a cabinet.  The way they first GET to Narnia it pretty much magic rings used by the good guys.  Bottom line in FICTION magic use is not bad!  People who read something from the fiction section and try to duplicate,  eg. magic, vampirisem , or anything else, are asking for it and need to understand that its NOT REAL!!!

As long as the person realizes that fiction is not real so the situations and/or powers in that book are not going to happen to them and they should not try to duplicate them.  IF you can't understand that then you should stick to Non fiction.  Just stay away from the ET and how to witch craft sections

Narnia is an allegory. LOTR is not. It's just a story. Don't let anyone tell you Tolkien wrote it as an allegory because he didn't.

But... The Gates of Hell's card art is the eye of Sauron... that has to count for something  ::).

But they are EC's so that isn't a problem.

Thank you for showing sense! Those books are all fiction, not meant to promote the idea that witchcraft can be real...its purely for the imagination and entertainment and I don't see what is so evil about that. People need to lighten up. Especially because I am sure a lot of anti Harry Potter people are pro LotR for the reason that Harry Potter displays good people using magic and being portrayed as being good...well that is straight contradiction. Plain and simple.

Even if I presented evidence that could convince you, you wouldn't want to believe it, and therefore you wouldn't.
