I'm all for seeing other Biblically-based CCGs out there, but it's a bit unfortunate that apparently he's never even heard of Redemption...(or at least that's how I interpret the claims made on the website).

This is why marketing is a must for Redemption. It’s been around for so long but rarely has a person heard of it.

With so many similarities, I’m curious how Pokémon will respond to this.

It does come awfully close to a complete rip-off, clearly the goal is "I want my kids to have godly pokemon cards" instead of "I have an interesting idea for a new card game."

As the creator of Animo, I would love to address some of the questions and responses here:  First of all, yes, I did create the cards because it was something I wanted personally for my kids.  Truth be told, I made them for my kids as a Christmas gift- specifically as a Biblical alternative to pokemon- I would never deny that.  They were becoming obsessed with pokemon at scary levels.  My son was sleeping with cards under his pillow and having nightmares.  My daughter was carrying meowth around EVERYWHERE she went and would pull it out use it's 'attacks' on her siblings during arguments.  In my defense, Animo wasn't originally intended to be marketed- but once I saw the neighborhood kids coming over and asking for their own, I realized what great outreach potential they held as the word of God was getting into kids hands who otherwise wouldn't have picked up a Bible.  The game started as an imitation for sure- but once things got rolling, I was determined to make it a unique game all it's own.  We've worked really hard adding characters, play testing, tweaking mechanics and have gotten a lot of advice and feedback from great people within the gaming community.  I am embarrassed to say, I hadn't heard of Redemption until we were well into the development and play testing for Animo.  I recently bought my first starter deck of redemption (4th edition) as that was all they had at the local LifeWay.  I'm just starting to learn how to play- but I'm really excited to get into it.  I think that Animo is a great game to introduce the younger kids to CCG's (without all the magic and violence) and will hopefully lead to a new generation of Redemption players when they get older.  I have great respect for the Redemption TCG and community and would love any feedback anyone from this community would be kind enough to provide.   Thanks and God Bless!

Hey Animo Games! Welcome to the Redemption boards and community! It's really cool that you made a Christian CCG...I can tell you've put in a ton of work and I think your game looks great!

I'm also glad that you've discovered Redemption! It's the 2nd-oldest running CCG after Magic the Gathering, and is such a fun game. For tons more info on the game, including cards, rules, and strategies, check out landofredemption.com. And for product and the price guide for every Redemption card, check out threelionsgaming.com!

And feel free to ask any questions you have here on the Boards!

Welcome again  :)

Bah!  A CCG with a Bible verse on each card.  There's no way that will ever work.     ;D

Seriously, this looks like fun and I like the idea of the second family game.  Good luck.

I am embarrassed to say, I hadn't heard of Redemption until we were well into the development and play testing for Animo.

I guess I am confused. Once you learned that Redemption had existed for many years, why did you not change your website to reflect that you are not the only TCG that has Bible verses as a parenting tool?

@YourMathTeacher - My sincerest apologies.  This project has been a FULL time job on top of my real full time job and 4 kids at home- I wrote the description on the web page long ago, and wasn't aware I had anything on there that was not factual.  With all the game design, character drawings, play-testing, etc. wording on the website was the last thing on my mind.   It was actually my wife who discovered Redemption while searching online.  I honestly wasn't even aware the cards had verses on them until VERY recently (when I actually purchased them).  Yesterday, I was searching the website for any claims that may have been off (I was looking in the 'ABOUT' section), and it wasn't until your response that I found what you were talking about.  I have updated it! Thank-you for pointing it out!  You'll even see in the resources page that I list Redemption as a game we recommend with a link to the website as well.  We are very small time production here- it is basically just one guy (me) doing everything to the best of my ability!  Please don't hesitate with any other feedback.  Thanks!

Not a problem. I appreciate your quick response.  ;D

For the record, I find your game intriguing. Redemption is very difficult for young players, so having an alternative for them is most welcome. I have run gaming clubs at my school for years, so having more Christian game options is helpful.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Daniel!  Truthfully, I didn't join the boards to pitch my game- I was checking out the forum as I just purchased my first starter decks of Redemption and was eager to learn more about strategy and game play.  Imagine my surprise when I saw your post referencing my game!  Thank-you so much for sharing it!  I'm thrilled to join this community and can't wait to delve deeper into the game!  ;D

Much respect Animo Games, it takes a lot to raise a family, work and become an entrepreneur. Wish you the best. Btw, have you heard of LackeyCCG? Its a free online virtual table top ccg gaming app.

Thanks Deck Metrics!  Just checked out Lackey CCG... it looks really interesting!  So is it just sort of a tabletop 'sand box' or are there organized games being played?

Organized games--We have even used Lackey to hold online tournaments (over the course of several weeks).

Maybe one of these days we'll do a full day online tournament...that would be interesting.  8)

Got to play Animo a few times this week with the Starter Decks. It may look like Pokemon, but the game mechanics are much different, more like Final Fantasy TCG.

I like it as an alternative for younger players. My kids (11 and 7) have enjoyed playing. There are actually two different games that can be played with the same cards, one for younger kids and one for older kids.

I also find it interesting that the rules give you an in-game bonus to your attack if you can memorize the verse on the card and recite it before you attack. :-)

I too have acquired some cards from Animo Games and it is incredible the flexibility game has in basically two modes depending on the maturity level of those playing. The graphics are exactly what they should be for a game with such a target audience. Love that Animo Games has been able to connect here as well. I see this being a mutually beneficial association for sure.

Animo's creator has stated above that he would like Animo to be a stepping stone to get younger kids used to CCGs, so that someday they can learn more complicated games like Redemption. I agree that the two games can work well together. Unity in the Body of Christ is a good thing!  ;D

I too have acquired some cards from Animo Games...

Out of curiosity, are you trading or selling them? :prayer:
