How many negates/interrupts?

Hello Friends,

Say you are building a T1 (50-card) deck, and you have 10 good enhancements and 10 evil enhancements, HOW MANY of those enhancements (out of 10) would you include that are of the NEGATE or INTERRUPT type?

(I know this will vary from deck to deck, just trying to get a ballpark).

Thanks,

EM

Depending on the support cards in your deck and how many colors you are playing, I think if you could make every card a negate/interrupt that does something else then do it.  I don't think there is a set quota either, as it completely depends on your build.  If you have a ton of small number guys, then you might not need as many negates as you would prefer to have "battle winners" or other useful cards.  Whereas if you play with big huge Philistines, all of your non-weapon & territory enhancements might need to be negates.

i think you should shoot for 6 enh good/evil and maybe 2 good 2 evil negates/interrupts is okay

having characters is pretty important, and it's really nice when they can get a block without having to play anything else

It really depends on several factors...

1. What else do the cards do? (i.e. a negate/discard vs a negate only)
2. What kind of offense and defense are you running?
3. What support cards do you have? (i.e. in a deck with Coliseum I am more likely to run heavier on negates since it is less likely my opponent will be able to use a CBN card)
4. What kind of characters are you running? Bigger Heroes and ECs are better with more negates whereas smaller Heroes and ECs are better with more battle winners since you're more likely to have initiative.

Those are just a few things to consider...however, before I would even get to those questions, I would wonder if I really want to be that enhancement heavy (10 & 10)? Not sure how big of a deck you have in mind, but that's a lot of enhancements for anything smaller than a 63 card deck.

Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Typically a deck should be more permanent heavy. (A permanent is any card that you play down from hand and sticks to the table. Think Characters/Fortresses/Sites/Artifacts) So ten enhancements on each side is a ton. I typically run no more than 12 total. Also, as far as negates go, I like to have access to around four cards on offense that can function as a negate. That is the beauty of cards like Samuel's Edict, Elymas Struck Blind, and 'He is Risen'. Those cards can stop an opposing battlewinner and then cause the opponent to have to respond to SI. On defense in the RoJ meta, I suggest running no fewer than two negates, with some defenses packing an upwards of four. This is all on top of Three Woes which should be in every deck, it's that good.
