I'm trying to make the best black defense but my characters a pretty weak right now. The only one that I have right now that I like is Philistine Garrison. What other good black characters are there?

Goliath (Promo), Twelve Fingered Giant, and Philistine Armor Bearer are all high on the list. Philistine Priests is often quite useful as well. Fallen Warrior can be nice, but not too many use him. Simon the Magician works well against NT Heroes.
Use the Mad Bomber to rescue his Province.

Also, if/when you can get your hands on the new cards, pretty much all of the new Canaanites are worthy of putting in a deck.
Press 1 for more options.

Depending on how big you want your defense depends on what type of black you want to run. Black was the strongest small and large brigade last year, IMO, so obviously, it gives you lots of options. Phillies are great for a small defense. With just Philistine Outpost, Philistine Armor Bearer, 12 Fingered Giant, Goliath, and Philistine Garrison, you have a powerhouse defense for early game, and really good against banding offenses. You can also throw in negates for support, such as Bringing Fear, Foolish Advice, Devourer, and Joseph in Prison. Simon the Magician can fit well into these decks if you have more than just negates, and he's also a magician that you can use Magic Charms on. Greeks are surprisingly good, especially if you mix Black and Orange. Antiochus Epiphanes, Winged Leopard, Goat with Horn, can all be great.
