Tartaros. Just... Just Tartaros.

Hey, look who rose from the dead!

How goes it, everyone? I have a curiosity question:

Does anyone have any idea how to actually use Tartaros? Which is to say, find a use for it? I understand the card just fine, but... it just doesn't strike me as remotely useful.

Thoughts?

I'm still not sure that works.

Probably because it isn't that useful, unless you want to play Panic Demons (LOL).

But like, how would that even help when using Panic Demons? What, that when your other Panic Demons win you get some others back?

...yeah, OK, I guess that is kind of useful, isn't it? Not terribly useful, but it is something.

I've ever only found it useful in two situations:

1) Your opponent is also using demons (or a standalone with KoT)

2) Demon Behind the Idol.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

I believe Worse than the First can get them out of Tartaros.

I've probably given this card more chances than anybody on the boards but it always ends up being 1 card or word away from a useful combo, lol. Recently I was building a Type II deck with the intention of recurring Messenger(s) of Satans infinitely by playing DoU, and DoU through Golgotha... Until I realized that Tartaros didn't say to release after your demon makes a "successful block"... but, rather, when it "wins" in battle. I cried a little bit, lol. So close!

With Covenant with Eden up, your SSStampede will put demons into Tartaros where they can be brought out by Worse than the First or by (Gasp) winning an actual battle with a demon.

But then SSS won't shuffle LS.

yeeeeah, I guess that would equivalent to the I Am Holy/Chambers ruling (if the cost is "insteaded" the benefit never kicks in).

Poor Tartaros, I tried. lol.

I agree that it is difficult to make it worth it.  However I think the best use for it is to stop your opponents demons.

If the opponent is using a large demon defense (which was popular for a while), they have several ways to keep getting their demons back: Worse than the First, Seven Sons of Sceva, Wandering Spirit, Satan Released.  The first 3 are likely to be in a demon defense and it can be difficult to deal with if they keep bringing them back.  If you have Tartaros and discard their demon (Angel of the Lord, Grapes of Wrath, AoC, etc) then they go to your Tartaros and no more recursion.

I've considered it for some offenses that might have trouble with demons.
