I need a another lost soul for my Samuel deck & I'm not sure which would be best. I'm thinking a FBTN for those pesky NT/Female onlys. here's what have so far....

Revealer
3 liner
Shuffler
NT only
Female only

Definitely FbtN. Any deck that doesn't have both a strong NT and a strong Female presence (i.e. pretty much every deck that's not TGT ladies) needs the FbtN soul. The only exception to this I can think of is an Isaiah deck.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I agree with Pol; it's an extremely versatile card when you're not using your own Lost Souls for anything beyond perks. For instance, in T2 the Thorns LS is common for use against Assyrians, in T1, the Pigs LS is common as a cheap anti-speed. Decks with sites use the discard Lost Souls. Being able to potentially shut all that down is hard to argue with.

I use FBTN in every T1 deck without Hopper, some T1 decks with it, and nearly all T2 decks.

I like this one, I've never used the FBTN and liked it.  Too often it hurts me as much as my opponent.

/But then again, I played NT for most of my tenure here...

I usually go with the shut door lost soul due to it being more defensive. Unfortunately, any argument against FBTN can go both ways...

The main reason is FBTN stops hopper. Hopper basically reduces the cards in your deck by one due to having to draw another one off of it. In addition, it creates another lost soul for your offense if they're not doing anything. I like the hopper.

While stopping hopper is nice, I would say the FBTN lost soul is best at stopping the NT, Female and Exchanger lost souls. His offense has no was of gaining access to the NT or Female soul and if they use their exchanger to grab his NT/Female ls he would be in a very bad situation. Also, with a Sam deck you are going to have alot of lost souls out with all the drawing so shut door won't make as big of a difference imo. I agree that shut door is more defensive, but Sam decks are usaully offensive heavy. My defense in my Sam deck has 5 defensive cards, not including doms.

My only hesitation with the FBTN is that my defense is small & can't hold out for long, and my own lost soul abilities help stall. I'll give it try though.

I was arguing against FBTN. If you have FBTN, you probably should have hopper in your deck. Hopper essentially reduces your deck count by 1 due to drawing another card when you draw it.

Also, FBTN can put on some serious hurt too. They exchange for your 2 liner. You draw the FBTN. You're in trouble.
