on a slightly related note, if they play IoJ on your temple, you cannot hold an artifact in there.

I would argue as I have on other threads that since:

1.  The REG hasn't been updated
2.  Rob has not made a decision
3.  Not all playtesters/mods agree

we should play as we have since identifiers were invented, that they cannot be negated.  Until 1 or 2 happens, I don't think it's a rule.

Yeah I would like to know what the final ruling on this is, I think my head is about to explode!  BOOM. . . (well there it went, nevermind!  ;D)

Hey,

The Holds change is going to happen.  If you want to drag your feet on the issue until the REG with the change is officially released go for it.  But you'll want to make sure judges at tournaments you attend are okay with that.

That is not completely correct.  If "Holds" is a special ability, and you used it to put an artifact in there, and IoJ is played in a later phase, then it is too late to negate the placement of the artifact in the fort.  It stays.  The only thing IoJ would do is keep you from putting a NEW artifact in there, since that Holds ability would be negated.

There is also a possibility that "Holds" is going to be a part of the game rules for fortresses.  Just like each site has a rule connected to it, a game action like "If this site is unoccupied during your prep phase, you may put a lost soul in it."  So, fortresses could have a rule connected with them, that depends on its "Holds" ability.

Regardless of which way this goes, IoJ does NOT remove an artifact that was placed in a previous phase.
