I set aside Assyrian Surivor with "He is Risen!". Does survior capture himself? I'm inclined to say no but It's quite probable i'm wrong.

Well since he gets captured when he's removed from the game, I'd think he'd get captured when he's set aside.

Yes. If Survivor didn't say CBI, then HiR would interrupt the ability, but since it doesn't, HiR defeats him and he gets captured.

Agreed.  He is still defeated, and it has been ruled that no matter where he ends up, he is still captured from that location.  Even if it is removed from game or set-aside.

Actually I've heard from an elder that removed from game AS is not captured.

Then I believe you heard wrong.

I'm gonna go with no because once the evil character is removed and all the lost souls are shuffled it becomes a battle challenge and does not meet the requirement of "rescue attempt" on Panic Demon.
Any battle that starts as a "rescue attempt" but does NOT end up in a rescued LS is a "failed rescue".  The fact that it changes to a "battle challenge" doesn't change the fact that it used to be a "rescue attempt", and it failed.

I think the Panic Demon would be placed.  I don't think it matters whether it would have been discarded (DoU) or removed (SSS).  This is just like if a character is being discarded or removed from battle, a negate still undoes both.  Remove seems like it is only permanent if it "finishes" after all other special abilities are done.

Prof A is correct. Whomever you're speaking of was mistaken.

Just one question...how can Survivor be captured after being removed from the game?  If he's removed from the game then he's out of play for the duration.  So I don't see how he can be captured after being removed.  But that's just my opinion.

The rule is that Survivor is captured, no matter where he ends up.  Hand, deck, discard, set-aside, removed from game, it does not matter.  It is taken from there and put in opponent's LoB.

I understand your take on that (and I believe I argued the same thing), but that's the ruling ;)
