This is a two part complex question that I hope I can write clearly.

Say that I am making a rescue attempt with my Priest and my opponent blocks with some one.  During the battle, my opponent plays a battle winner (capture/convert/discard/etc (for this example, we will use capture)).  Here's when it get's complicated.  Since the time period before I am captured is technically my inish...

1) Can I band another hero into battle before the first hero is captured so that the battle will continue?  I know I could intterupt the capture and return my guy to my hand but not sure about the banding part (please say yes :prayer:).

2) If the answer to the first part is a yes, can I still band some one into battle even if the enhancement is CBN (since it never says that the battle is intterupted when you use the banding part of the artifact)?

The Silver Trumpets
Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: When your Priest has initiative during a rescue attempt, you may band a human O.T. Hero from your territory into battle or interrupt the battle and return your Heroes in battle to hand. May be used twice.

You can only band to a Hero that is currently in battle.  If there is not a Hero in battle after the capture is played, there is no one to band to.  You also cannot interrupt the capture and then try to sneak in the Artifact use.  One card at a time.

So you need to either stop the capture with another card, or have another Priest still in battle after the one Hero is captured.

Now, I'm not super official, but the way the card is worded.  Then I think you can band in both situations.  However, in the CBN situation then I don't think you can withdraw out of battle.  That's my understanding of it.

*EDIT*  Instaposted by Schaef and he IS more official than me.

What I don't understand is how come the capture is not interrupted (if not CBN) when you try to pull your hero out of battle?

The banding portion of The Silver Trumpets does not interrupt so it cannot be used when your Hero is losing by removal.

I just want to make sure I understand this correctly.

The time period between your opponent playing a removal enhancement and the actual removal process is technically your inish however, the only effects that can be used on any type of cards are ones that interrupt the battle, correct?

You are correct.  Unless you interrupt the removal, your character is removed, making it impossible to play anything but an interrupt.

So the banding idea didn't work (drat) but can I still interrupt the removal enhancement with the artifact (I would assume so because Cov Of Noah has the same situation).

Right.

Exactly.  I would have preferred Silver Trumpets to be more like Unknown Nation.

But no one asked for my opinion.   ;)
