SOG vs Ls ability

If my opp plays sog on his anti ignore ls and he has a hero in battle with an ignore ability what happens?

Miriam "ignore all gold ecs"
Son of God "Rescue any lost soul in play."
anti ignore ls
Type: Lost Soul • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: While you have only one evil brigade in play, negate all ignore abilities on O.T. good cards. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Proverbs 22:10 • Availability: Rock of Ages (Set 13)

Does Miriam's ability reactivate? I would think not due to SOG doesn't negate.

I agree with that. Taking the card out of play doesn't negate the special ability. (i.e. Aaron's Rod to discard all evil enhancements in play-doesn't negate anything)

I concur.  Unless an ability is negated, it remains until the end of the phase.

i would  agree unless the LS is rescued before Miriam enters battle because then the phase of the turn has changed.

(Idea from how Confusion of Mind has been ruled for me. It's SA can't be nagetd but once the next phase of you turn comes around it is no longer in play to effect that phase)

I agree with that as well, but this situation calls for the hero to already be in battle.

Which means rescuing the protector with sog and the shuffle with NJ also would not work :D

that would be true, except for the clause on the Protector's ability.

Special Ability: While this card is in play, protect each Lost Soul in play from being shuffled, placed under draw pile, or exchanged.

If it's rescued it's no longer in play, is it? thus the qualifier for the ability is no longer met.

Side question though: Does the Protector lost soul keep cards like King Asnappar from working?

Special Ability: You may capture an Egyptian or a Syrian, or you may transfer a captured character from your territory to opponent’s Land of Bondage.

Right after Priests came out Bryon ruled that souls will not shuffle if you rescue the "Shuffler" and "Thorns" LS with SoG/NJ.

I didn't bother to search for the thread because it's probably been deleted but you can look if you'd like.

Technically there is no first, as NJ must be played simultaneously with SoG. At least that is how I heard it explained.

:dunno:

That's a fairly common "rule" in MN too, but I don't know that anyone was ever denied a second lost soul because of it. If they were, then I agree we need the PTB to harmonize the two rulings.

I'm not sure what is causing all the confusion. SoG played with NJ must be played simultaneously. That means that both LS are taken out at exactly the same time, before any triggered SA can take effect.

You can rescue two Shufflers because neither SA takes effect until after they are both gone.

I see it like "Band all" abilities, though, where you band 1 character in at a time, and let any abilities activate. Only in this case it's "Rescue 2 lost souls" but triggers still happen after each soul is rescued.

This is correct.

Also, Scott was correct about the initial question.

Well, stop seeing that way.  ;D

Banding is more like picking teams for a backyard football game. You pick captains first, then they alternate selections for their teams. People join the team one at a time. With "simultaneous," everyone joins the team at the exact same moment, which is more akin to being beamed down to the backyard from the Starship Enterprise.

And if you're not a main character, that's the last game of football you'll ever play.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
