When a hero is captured, and then rescued does it go into the land of redemption, or back into play?  In other words is it permanently treated as a lost soul?

When you rescue a captured character, it is a Redeemed Soul.

A few characters, like Angel of Deliverance, give you the option of returning it to Hero status instead, but it's nearly always more helpful to have a point than a Hero.

And apparently you are able to get a lost soul without that hero anyway. ::)
