So to use a healing card, this must be played before a character is discarded?
An example is if I start a RA with Noah (8/7) and am blocked by Jezebel (6/6). Jezebel has intitive and plays Coliseum Lions "Discard one Hero in battle." If I have not interrupt/negate cards Noah is discarded and cannot play Balm of Gilead "Heal any Hero from the Blue Brigade that is being discarded."?

You can heal Noah but he has to leave battle

Yes. It's a really cool feature, but I seldom use it. Not sure why

Every once in a while someone drops AoTL on a character with a Horses weapon in territory. It's nice to keep a hold of the weapon while making them waste their AoTL.

That's tricky, since Torment doesn't work on a character discarded by a dominant.
