I defeated RED 5-2. Samaria sites killed his heros before he could start drawing. Ahab was 41/41 before it was over. Job was a 0/6 for a bonus.
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

I bested Mr. Kamke 5-2. Good game. The new rule extended yet another game for no real reason (since I still had 3 soul generators left). He almost did manage to stop it though, I guess. I'm just not a fan.

AlexO=5
me=2

GG  :)

The new rule allowed me a few more turns before he finished me off in glorious fashion.

I was ghosted by Pol, we had planned our game for tonight, and:
Looks like we're paired up again.  When's a good time for you?
I'll be available most of the day tomorrow (from around 2 CDT onward). Does that work for you?

I'm ready anytime now on.

Same here.
*at this point I had a personal issue, and didn't get back on until I sent this*
I'm in both ROOT 2011 and I'm LFG.
And posted this on the shoutboard:

Defeated Prof U in a game decided by the fewest critical mistakes and a good dose of luck/providence, 5-4. Very good game.

Pretty sure you don't get ghost points for having a personal issue when your opponent gets on.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Confirmed.  I lost this one due to making too many mistakes against a really good opponent :)

I don't see how this game didn't happen.  One player posts that he's around from 6:30 on, and the other player posts that he's around from 9:00 on.  Both players then post again later in the evening (9:45, 12:15, and 1:45).  It seems like you were both around the whole evening, just like you said you would be.  So why didn't you play each other?

I never saw him on Hamachi the whole time, and I never received any hamachi message from him. It's possible that he was waiting to make contact on the board before logging on to hamachi. Monitoring Hamachi is a lot more doable than refreshing the message boards every few seconds.

That's correct.  Hamachi is a security issue, and as such, I keep it off whenever possible.  However, I was logged into both ROOT 2011 and I'm LFG (as I said in my PM), and checked for you on Hamachi ~20 min after I sent it.

I'm not necessarily saying I should get the ghost points, but if you were only on Hamachi at two points while I was on it pretty much all night, and you had a personal issue at (conveniently) the exact time I was 100% for sure on, I see no way you can claim that I ghosted you.

Your snide attacks are not useful at resolving this.  I was the last to send you a message.  What's the question?

I don't see a question in my last post. What I see is we agreed to play Sunday night, I got on at 8, didn't see you on but let you know I was and waited for you to get on Hamachi. You got on at 7, didn't see me on, got off around 8, got back at 8:45 and sent me a PM and waited for me to PM you back. Where in here am I more at fault so as to give you ghost points?

That doesn't matter. I sent you a message to let you know I'd be on, and you never logged in to Hamachi. I can have Hamachi open for an entire night to check for you, but logging on and refreshing every five minutes isn't feasible.

Easy fix: No one gets points, you stop having this argument in public.

Yeah, additional solutions for the future: Don't wait until four hours before the deadline before you play your game. I neither know nor care who's idea that was (not that it matters what I think anyway), but that seems pretty irresponsible. I agree with Alex; if neither of you could make contact with the other, then "ghosted" might not be the proper term, but neither of you should get points. It's not as if either one of you makes a habit of this, so it's not like it can be argued that either person specifically avoiding playing the game for whatever reason.

I think at this point the best thing would be for Prof U to decide what he'll do, and let it be. Neither of the people directly involved has posted about it for awhile, so that should be all. It seems that all of the evidence has been shown, and I trust Prof U to make a fair decision.

I'm going to classify the Kittens/Pol game as simply an "unplayed" game and NOT penalize either of them for "ghosting".  It seems to me that both of them tried to be available to play last night in their own ways (Pol on Hamachi, Kittens through PM), but since their methods were different it caused a breakdown in communication.

I hope that you both can understand my decision, and that things will work out better with your next opponents this week.  I'll try to get the new rankings and pairings up tonight.

That's fair. This time around I'll make sure to schedule a specific time rather than "X night."

The 4th round rankings & pairings are posted.

Just to remind everyone, after this week, there will also be a 5th week for the Oct tournament before it's over.

Remember how I said that if the Opponent's LS only rule ever cost me a tournament I would be rather upset.....Alex, please beat me this week so I don't have to potentially be rather upset. Because right now a win would put me in a multi way tie for second so the championship game would be determined by LS differential, which wouldn't you know I'd be down on because of the new rule.
