Best 2 out of 3 has overwhelming support, even if it isn't on the list. Why not let it happen?

Personally, I don't care if we have sideboard or not, but I strongly dislike the first two rules and single elimination is too gimmicky without best 2 of 3. Double elim is better, but again, if you're restricting it to only those 3 options, I frankly don't like any of them, and will be joining Red.

All 3 of the choices for this month have been suggested by members of this forum, and just because you don't like them doesn't mean that this is a "false" attempt to give people a chance to try different experiments.

When nearly everyone (if not everyone) is voting for an option that isn't even available, and you're choosing to ignore them, I would argue that that is not giving a real choice. This is especially true when you notice that the Gifts of the Magi rule is proposed nearly every month (I'm not sure if it's been every month, but I know it was on the list every time when I was part of the leadership), despite the fact that nearly every member of the community doesn't like it. We can iron out the details for sideboard within the next week, then let people vote on the specifics.

I will not be playing this month unless we get best 2 out of 3 (preferably with sideboard).

I know I am still very new to the community and to root but I would just like to say I have really enjoyed my root experience and am happy to play whatever rules we decide to go with

If I could +1 that I would. I have no real issue with Underwood or anyone else, but I disagree strongly enough on this topic to withdraw out of protest.

I've enjoyed ROOT, but I'd rather play pick-up games with the same people and not have the weird rules.

I would love to build a deck and 15 card side board for a best of 3 with some one if they are interested; granted I need to build the deck first.

Also to deal with side deck changes I would say after game one you would need to pm your deck as is to opponent and then after game 2 pm your side board list to eliminate cheating just a thought

Thanks for the support and flexibility.  I hope you continue to enjoy your experience.

And I'm not ignoring people's desire for a sideboard at all.  I'm just saving that idea for a couple months from now when it's not a holiday time.  If people want to protest waiting for a couple months by dropping out entirely, that is their choice of course.  But I hope they'll reconsider.

I am grateful to be a part of this. I don't have people to play with (besides siblings), and appreciate any chance to play. I am fine with pretty much anything, but will vote for T-3 to play more than one game...  ;)

I vote for option 3 because it doesn't radically shift the rules of Redemption. I greatly would prefer 2/3 (with a sideboard). I will not play if any option without a 2/3 rule is chosen. I think it's pretty clear what the majority wants. This is the exact same situation that happened in the first ROOT this tournament season. No one like the rule, everyone says that, no changes are made, and there is low participation.

We'll miss you this time around, and look forward to your return when the sideboard option gets ironed out for a future ROOT.

Thanks Prof. U. for all your hard work. I'm excited to play in this next tourney whatever the rules.

The boards need to stop being so negative. Seriously...

I don't like the rules presented and believe they would be detrimential to the game. I said my piece.

Don't get me wrong, I love ROOT and love Redemption. However, I will find it less enjoyable with these rules, and therefore choose to play the ordinary way. I'm up for experimenting, but I just don't see these being practical in the big scheme of things*, nor very fun, so why bother?

*Single elim is not happening, unless it's with top cut, and ... ROOT is small enough we could just treat it like the top cut (because so many great players do ROOT), but that still only really works with Double Elim.
Type 3 is a whole new type.
The Gifts ruling is going to completely shift the meta to create a slower game.

I am disappointed by the availability of option C.  I've heard it preached more than anything that ROOT is about fun, fellowship, and most of all participation.  A single elimination tourney means one game for half of the participants.

I know my situation is unique, but I have no play group; if I don't play games online, I don't play at all.  It is so hard to find games that aren't "scheduled" (i.e. ROOT); there are so few pick-up games being played right now.

My vote is for option B.  I am excited about T3.

This is also me, and its nice to see people having positive attitudes about playing games and trying things out.

OK, I went through and took out some stuff from both sides.  I think it's best for us to just move on at this point.  People who want to play with one of the 3 options listed, feel free to sign up and vote for one.  People who don't choose to play with any of those options, have a happy holidays and we'll look forward to playing again with you in 2013.

Are we starting to lean towards type 3 for root this time?

If so I suggest slightly lengthening the time limit.

Also in t3 can you have multiple generics? Like 2 of any particular generic?

In building a T-3 deck, what counts as good? I understand Characters, enhancements, covenants etc. How about Lamb icon Doms or certain fortresses? Can anyone clear that up for me?

There are good and evil fortresses that count (you can tell a fortress by the shading behind the fortress icon) for instance storehouse counts as a good card even then it benefits the dreaming pharaoh

Artifacts, Lost souls and good/evil enhancements count as neutral

Dom's count as good and evil as well
