Uzzah is going to get 1 block per game (unless you opp is playing FBN) and is going to cost you an artifact to do it.
Goliath is going to probably get the 1st block that he makes as well (due to your opponent probably not having a 2nd option to attack with at that point), and is NOT going to cost anything else.
Point: Goliath

Uzzah is easily splashed into any deck that has several artifacts.
Goliath not as easily splashed into any deck because once he's down in territory you opponent might band to him and cause your offense problems.
Point: Uzzah

Uzzah generally dies on his first block.
Goliath generally survives his first block, and in his native defense can return many times with Philly Outpost.
Point: Goliath

Uzzah can play Haman's Plot.
Goliath can't.
Point: Uzzah

Uzzah will NEVER completely shut down an offense.
Goliath can if your opponent is using a Job deck, Isaiah-lite deck, or maybe Saul/Paul Heroless.
Point: Goliath

Underwood, both of the points you gave Goliath should be nothing more than a tie. Goliath is better at the beginning of the game, but if he's not out in the first two or three turns, he's no longer getting a successful block without earning it, and he's more than likely not going to survive more than one block after that same time period. He can be recurred, yes, but that's all.

There's Torment, which can heal him, but I don't think there's any other way to do it.

from what I'm familiar with, that's correct.

Anyway I vote Uzzah for versatility, almost every deck has arts so he's an easy splash thats gets an almost for certain block.  To make Goliath good you have to do more than just throw him in.

question though, if you heal him would his ability still work? he wasn't discarded

Yes. A heal ability doesn't stop a character from being discarded, it just takes that character out of the discard pile.

I vote Goliath because it will be easier for ASA to beat him. Not saying that Uzzah is better than Goliath, but it will be a more difficult matchup for ASA in particular.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Healing of Naaman with Altar of Dagon active.  FTW.

Don't forget, there is Providing Angel:

Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Silver • Ability: 3 / 5 • Class: None • Special Ability: Holder may take a healing enhancement from draw pile or discard pile and put it in hand. • Play As: Holder may search deck or discard pile for any healing enhancement and place it in hand. • Identifiers: Generic OT Male Angel • Verse: I Kings 19:5.

Infinite recurrence of Torment (or Healing of Naaman). Thus, infinite recurrence of Uzi. Whee!

So long as you don't run out of artifacts. If you have extra space, you can throw in Wool Fleece, Cross Beams, Ect.  ::)
