I won't be there, but my characterless deck is 2-0 vs Westy if anyone wants to play it for me.

Non-top players will hammer clay, top players may play clay.  Judges and Disciples as always. TGT/muddy garden.  Pharisees and Greeks are both really good. I expect to see priests of Zeus in tons of decks.

I think everyone will want these in their deck.
Spoiler (hover to show)

Maybe except for Westy ;)

I think we will see clay for sure and with that, probably a lot of Pharisees on defense so people can convert Saul/Paul.

I'll frankly be surprised if a Saul/Paul deck makes it very far.  It is inconsistent even with all of the new Paul support, and inconsistent is not usually going to be able to win enough to cut.

Be nice to be surprised there, though.

We all know well see Clay, and frankly Pharisees are still one of the best defensive speed options, so I can see people throwing him in as a "why not" if I actually convert him.

If people build this in as a "if it happens great, if not it's ok" play then I would get it. Building a deck around Paul is not top tier at the moment.  It's possible a hero-lite version would do ok but that would because of territory destruction with MtM, Holy Grail, Jephtha and defense ways to hit the opponents EC's. It would have little to do with Paul actually winning battle phases.

I mean its not like Paul was really limited before by not being clay.  He could already use the best enhancement of whatever deck you were running, but I still never ran him in any of my pharisee defenses because there was always a card that was consistently, not a "well if it happens great" card.   Deck slots are too important for a "why not" type of card.

First of all tiers are up in the air seeing as there have been no major tournaments. Second, Saul isn't a terrible fit in a pharisee defense because he covers their weakness to btn angels and Evert deck has grail. However; slots ate valuable and so are grail uses so he's not going to be splashed a ton.

Saul used to be the option to help with FBTN hero's for Pharisees but Emp Tib fills that role way more efficiently since his ability is great.

My guess is priest of Zeus will become like the new Goliath. It is helpful enough as a standalone to make it into most decks.

Genesis should be really good again this year. Hand control or power, either version will surprise people
