What tactics or cards could help high number Evil characters in battle more?

What tactics or cards could help high number Evil characters (9 pr higher in toughness and/or strength) in battle when blocking low number characters and CBN good enhancements?

Examples of CBN battle winner enhancements and low number heroes
Benjamin , Joseph , Samuel Bravery of David , Samuel edict

Examples of high number Evil characters
  Philly giants , Assyrian , Syrian kings and a few brown kings etc

I would think Horse weapons and play abilities

but can anyone think of anything else?

Joe is one of the hardest hero's to stop right and he just keeps coming back.

Immune to lone hero evil characters and Household Idols.

Horses weapons.

Arts/fortresses that take away the hero or grant initiative.

Protection and instead abilities.

You just have to imprison him ;)  I've managed to get both copies in T2 before.

But to keep them in battle, there are going to be few ways around the CBN winners.  Lots of protection and instead is what you need.  Herod's Temple if using NT humans is great, for example.
