Ok, so what is so amazing about meyhem? I have tried playing it in my deck and seeing how I can use it but i seems to hurt me as much as my opponent. Maybe I'm missing something?

Most people that play with it use decks that allow them to put down most of the cards they draw. Mayhem is usually beneficial if you play it when you only have a couple cards in your hand so that you can increase how many you have.

Mayhem is totally awesome. One of the best cards in the game, IMO. It can used in many ways.

1. Draw cards (if you have less than 6 cards in hand)
2. To negate a search
3. To generate a Lost Soul
4. To get a better hand

Also it can be amazing for disrupting your opponent's hand if you're not planning to play enhancements e.g. going in with an FBTN character, or a band.
