Meeting in the Wilderness - what is a turn?

My hubby played Meeting in the Wilderness last night.  It says "Set two heroes aside for 2 turns.  Both heroes return with abilities increased 3/3".  There were three of us playing. He said what this meant was the next player's turn counted and my turn counted so by the time play got back to him the two turns had passed.  My friend and I said...no way...it means two of his turns had to pass before the increase was complete.  Which of us is correct?

Thanks for your help.

Each of your upkeep phases counts for one turn for the set-aside. Your opponent(s) turns don't count.
