Prayer request.
« on: August 21, 2009, 07:27:45 AM »
Figured I should finally post this  ::)

For the past few years I've had on-and off ear infections. I'd go to my doctor she'd give me Amoxicillin and an ear drop almost every time. It never stopped, despite how careful I was being. (Everyday after I take a shower I'd carefully dry out my ear with the hair dryer, I'd put Vinegar and Peroxide in my ear like she recommended, etc). My doctor ended up totally baffled and confused so she just sent me off to a specialist about 3 months ago, but my appointment was when right after my last infection was defeated. He said he saw nothing out of the ordinary and said that he had no clue why I kept getting it, so I should come see him when it came back.

I just started to feel my ear kind of itch last week, so I scheduled an appointment. I saw him two days ago and he stuck some needle or another in my ear and gave me some medication. I've been taking it, but my ear has gotten worse. It started to hurt (please note I have a fairly high pain tolerance, this is a lot worse than other things I've felt... which includes dog bites, shattered bones, etc) when I chewed/talked/laughed yesterday, and today it hurts when I do anything that made it hurt yesterday/smile/tilt my head/swallow/touch my ear lightly. I currently have almost no hearing in my right ear, and I didn't sleep last night because it hurt and kept me awake. I thought about going into the emergency room, but I decided not to go beings I saw the ENT just the other day I should give the medication at least a couple more days before I go back in and complain.

Hopefully tonight will be better beings I'll have Advil (all we had last night was regular strength Tylenol and I'm allergic to it. I have no idea why we had it in there, beings my brothers are allergic to it too and everyone else complains normal strength doesn't work....)

Thanks for the prayers.

Alan

We are praying for you, specifically for a removal of pain and that the doctor will be able to accuately diagnose the problem and find a solution.

I had similar problems as a child. I had various tubes and incisions to try to relieve the pain. Nowadays, when I go for checkups, I wait for the doctor to put that little light in my right ear and give me the "Did you know that you have massive scarring in this ear" spiel.

Let's just say that I will never go deep-sea diving, and I wear earplugs when I fly in an airplane. I rarely have problems though. I just learned to take preventative measures and my life has been just dandy.  ;D
